Week 9 Power Rankings
1. Georgia Southern - 5-0 in conference, no matter which teams they don't play, is still impressive
2. UL - Looks like the Cajuns we all expected at the start of the season finally showed up.
3. stAte - Never gave up against UL and had to live with some crazy coaching decisions. Still a strong team.

Gap

4. USA - I think they are interchangeable between 4 and 6 but after watching the ULM/TXST pillow fight, I'll put them here.
5. TXST - They paly much better when Fran isn't the play caller
6. ULM - Good defense until they get tired. Offense isn't very good. I don't like the rotating QBs either.

HUGE gap

7. App St - Need to beat someone better then Troy to move up in my book.
8. Idaho - I think they get a win or two more this year.
9. NMSU - Seemed to have a chance earlier in the year and are backsliding
10. Troy - Weren't bad in the first half of the USA in-state rivalry game...
11. Georgia St - Got destroyed by their in-state rivals. But hey they led 3-0 at one point.

I can't see anything in this to argue about.

After getting gashed by the Cajuns run game I'm officially glad that we don't face Georgia Southern. I don't think we'd match up with them well, especially with our thinness on the lines at this point.

I do think a Cajuns/Georgia Southern matchup would be tough on both.

Flip NMSU and Georgia State, make UL and GS 1a and 1b and that would be my rankings.

Can't find much to argue about there but after watching our game last night I doubt there is a worse offense than ULM in the sunbelt although I thought I was witnessing one for 3 quarters.

Please also watch the Texas State offense during Fran's playcalling (i.e., the Cajun game, and apparently the first half of the ULM game).

I'm really now wanting to find out how much of that "Fran was calling plays" is true... If so, I want him to no longer have a headset. Or just have a headset that goes to a Little Debbie distributor.

At least we have John Thompson and a capable Defense. MLB David Mayo leads the NCAA in tackels, Michael Odiari is 6th in the nation in sacks and our corners may not be pick machines but have been playing really well this season especially Craig Mager.

Forget little debbie distributor.. Give him a headset that calls the opposing teams plays, we couldn't lose.

i would say that would be an improvement for us but I witness the first half yesterday.

RE: Week 9 Power Rankings
Hard to place the top 3. I still believe stAte is better than Georgia Southern. Louisiana seems to be out of their funk and showing they are still one of the best teams in the Conference. GS has looked impressive and have won the games in front of them, but until they beat a team better than USA I cant call them the best... The significance of them not having to play UL and stAte cannot be understated. Those two teams are head and shoulders better than any team GS has faced in conference play.

*1. Louisiana
*2-3. stAte
*3-2. Georgia Southern
The rest of the conference is a little more clear cut.
4-5t USA
5-4t TXST
6 ULM
7 App State
8 Troy
9 Idaho
10 New Mexico State
11 Georgia State

RE: Week 9 Power Rankings
The horrible thing about Texas State is that in truth depending on the team that shows up (or who is calling the plays), I'd be fine putting us anywhere from 3-9.

Fran calls the plays? 9.
Our OC (either one of them) I can see us up at 3.

If UL and State are that good, which I have no doubt they are, we have a strong G5 conference. Going back to the last game of 2013 to today GS has competed head to head with one SEC team and two ACC teams and are unbeaten in five Sun Belt conference games.

Taking a closer look the total points scored:

GS - 87
UF, NC state, Ga Tech - 86

Five game Sun Belt Conference Total score:
GS - 214
Sun Belt - 103

Average:
GS 42.8
SB 21.6

Only Ga Tech scored more points than G State.
Thought that was interesting.

The problem is the league is pretty remarkably terrible once you get past South Alabama at 4.

With ULM and Troy's history we can be confident that the disparity will be short lived. Texas state is definitely all in and USA is impressive in their fifth year. I hate Crap state, and G state scored more on Southern than any G5 to this point. If NMSU would realize the opportunity and put it all together we're in a good position as a conference. How's it feel to have the new kid kicken that a.. eh. After next week Troy MAAAAAAAY be a little weatherd by the newbies. 05-stirthepot04-cheers

You guys are pretty decent when your OC calls the plays. Problem is I have no confidence Franchione will let him call the plays.
