We are going to get our ass kicked in a bowl game?

Come on, man. I'm saying this type of schedule brings in the possibility of relaxing your attention to game speed. You play 6 teams in a row with losing records? Guess who your next opponent is? Someone with a winning record. You know what I'm saying.

Unless we play someone who is 6-6...

have you not watched memphis football for the last 5 years complaining about a potential bowl ass whipping is ridiculous

First off, brother, punctuation is your friend. It indicates breaks in your speech, and enables people reading your $hite to understand what the eff you are trying to say.

Secondly, you CAPITALIZE Memphis. ALWAYS.

Thirdly, YES, I have watched Memphis football over the past 5 years (if that was what you were trying to ask - I wouldn't know, actually, as there is not a single solitary question mark in your post). As a matter of fact, I have been watching/listening to Tiger Football for roughly 40 years, so let's just say I have a "general feel" for the program.

And fourthly, I defy you to find where I was "COMPLAINING" about anything. I was merely suggesting that this is something to guard against/watch out for.

Now, you have a nice day out there, and lets slow it down...

how to stop SMU?

Put this picture on the door to their locker room before the game starts. They will have to forfeit because they will not even be able to dress out.

That's cool, but would you do me the kindness of removing that inadvertent extra "t" at the end?

It would be nice if Sam Craft was moved back to WR. I think the offense is more explosive with him at wideout.

Sweeps and screens are the best way to utilize Craft as RB.

We aren't that good. We need to play as hard and smart as we can.

And we may have more fans in the stands than they do.

we might not be that good, but they are that bad.

RE: How to stop SMU this week
I fully agree with geo about the schedule.
Y'all remember when Tommy was coaching....and we got to the magicJack Bowl game against South Florida,
Remember what happened? I do....we got our azzes whacked something like 41-14?
Tommy and RC had dumbed down the schedule to get to bowl eligibility.
That is the sign of desperate people trying to stay afloat.
Football teams don't get better by beating up on weak teams. They get better by beating good teams, then better teams, then GREAT teams.

When you beat a bunch of weak CUSA teams, you get full of yourselves...and then brought back to reality when you play against a good team in the bowl game.
I have no problem with anything geosnooker said at all.

I think they will play us like they played against ECU...like they have nothing to lose.
They went for it constantly on 4th down...and if our defense has a weakness...it is stopping the passing game.
We may win the game....but we'll know they were there.

Frankly, just GOING to a bowl game and getting the 10 or so extra practices for our young players will be great.

We can go bowling, get some experience, give our fanbase somewhere to travel and party and ultimately lose the bowl game and I doubt anyone would care. Still a hell of a successful season.

That is a true statement for now...
In time...recruits will want you to put up or shut up....something that our basketball coaches are going through as well.
They want to see results.
I think it is harder to build a good football program than a good basketball program.
1 or 2 good basketball players can turn a team around....whereas 1 or 2 football players might make a small dent....cannot do it all themselves.
I fully expect a bowl game this year...this team has shown me that it is within reach....within possibility.

RE: How to stop SMU this week
I think we still need experience in beating teams we're supposed to beat, like SMU (Jeez, that felt good to type!). We've lost for so long, it'll take a while to relearn. In the meantime, the more blowouts the better, against anyone we can beat. Next step is beating the "good" teams regularly, which I believe WILL happen, and soon.
As far as a bowl game goes, if we go to a bowl game, Fuente ought to be in the conversation for American Coach of the Year.

Are you saying our administration is desperate because the back end of our schedule sucks? We have no control of our conference mates sucking

I 2nd that.
I believe that Tommy's best coaching year was the year that Mo Avery had to be switched from receiver back to qb...because we had lost our first, second (didn't we lose our 3rd string qb too?) qbs...and we had to reinvent our offense 3 times that year.

Unless we play someone who is 6-6...

No guarantee there. Arkansas, for example, would be a very dangerous 6-6 team.
