Let us all be honest: there is a perception that the 2013 Rice squad was not deserving because we let down CUSA by losing to a middle of the road SEC team.

Can we all finally put this to rest and acknowledge what many knowledgeable fans have been promulgating? That Miss State was and is an outstanding team that played a portion of 2013 without Dax Prescott. Despite that impairment, they still managed to compete well in each game. And as for this year, they are now the #1 ranked team in the country.

Of course we Rice fans are disappointed with that Liberty bowl loss and we hope to be able to earn the right to represent CUSA as its champion again. But there is lot of football ahead and a lot of worthy teams on our schedule that will have some say in that matter. No game is a gimme or layup. In CUSA, every win is earned. #RFND

Rice didn't just beat MU last season, they dominated 'em. Till they're eliminated, like Banker posted, they're the champs, period, and should be treated as such. Winners of 3 in a row. History says that any team that sleeps on them in CUSA does so at their own peril. W/ their guys getting back healthy, they're the frontrunners/Champions in CUSA till proven differently.

And BTW, no one that I've ever spoken to said Rice let the conference down. That's just silly, they played a quality opponent and didn't win in bowl season, the 2014 #1 team nowadays', tough as can be, such a loaded team. That 2013 Rice team was awesome, tougher than hell. Hope the 2014 vers. does as well, less a certain conf. champ. game if MU is fortunate enough to get to it...

I never felt like Rice let us down in the Liberty Bowl. You played a tough opponent. When you beat many teams to get there (including mine), it would be foolish to claim you weren't the best representative last year.

It is a part of the school fight song. There is a debate as to whether the words are actually "RICE FIGHT, NEVER DIES".

But as alternative, I like "Rice Fans Need Donuts" submitted by GO_MONARKS.

Surely you didn't hear any criticism from our 1-11 USM fans?!?!?

I doubt very, very much if any Marshall fan has anything but the highest respect for Rice. At the moment, they are our standard bearer as reigning conference champs, as another poster has mentioned. Plus, if they had that ODU game back (after getting bounced around playing Notre Dame and Texas A&M), I think they win that game the next 10 out of 10 times they play the Monarchs in Houston. I see them ending up at 8-4, losing EITHER to Marshall or LaTech, but they deserve our respect. They certainly have mine.

I'm not quite sure where the OP's beliefs come from. I follow this board fairly closely and I don't think I've seen, or remember, any Rice trashing this year or last. Even when they dismantled us in the CCG, I think we all knew they were the better team that particular day.
