Oh! The white helmets! The white helmets looked good with the white uni's!

But not with the stink!

How about the run defense?
How about the rushing attack?
How about a drive in the last 1:11 to tie the game?

Thought the team showed character and fought to overcome the weather, turnovers, penalties, etc. 4-2 and 3-0 in the MAC is fine by me.

Do not be down on yourself.
WMU is a lot better than what most MAC posters think that they are, and it looks like NIU is not as good as advertised. See how they handled Kent at home tonight.

Take the win and turn off your computers...crappy weather and a crappy performance. Kudos to the defense for most of the night. Kudos to the O for getting it done on the last two drives. Film room will be painful this week.

Breaking down a ton of money by the hour and mile and it's not so heavy,

Oh, ok I see. I guess it makes it ok to coach an undisciplined team.

And if you are talking about the assistants' pay, I agree. That is in the range of what many business people make and probably in the same range of hours spent working and probably less travel and I know business people usually wish they made more. In the case of the head coach salary, it is much higher pay than most salaried business people and probably same amount of hours and less travel.

For what it's worth, I like Matt Campbell. I just miss when the Rockets were good.

And I'm generally not a negative nancy and recognize that I should probably just stay away from the computer unless I can say "something nice" but after every loss or game that is much closer than it should be, we always hear a great rationalization for it such as Ball State is better than New Hampshire or the Cincinnati and Missouri QBs will be inducted in the NFL Hall of Fame or that the rain was at fault. I just want someone to realize that there are deeper issues that need fixed such as preparation and game-planning for these Rocket teams to live up to their potential. If you continue to write off every ugly win or bad loss for excuses, those issues that hold the team back will never be resolved and the Rockets will always be on the outside looking in whether it be of MAC Championships or bowl games. And I'm not saying replace the coaches.

With that said, congratulations to the team for the win...in the end it's still a win.

1 Made many stupid mistakes. Didn't quit overcame major setbacks. Yes, they were self inflicted, nonetheless didn't blame each other.
2 Awesome running game. In the end with a poor passing game today, one facet took us to victory.
3 3-0 in MAC. Conference title has no ugly column. Just W-L
4 Beckman lost to Purdue. Purdue.
5 The blame does fall on the head coach. Blame him for winning

An ugly win is still a win. I was happy with our defense and that has been our Achilles this season. We contained their super human freshman tailback with our kryptonite freshman tailback. It had to have been horrible passing in that monsoon. We made plays on the last drive and got lucky in OT. We are still in the hunt for the west. I am taking my heart pills and going to bed. Getting too old for this kind of drama.

Bingo. Just got home, and even after a 2:15 hr drive, I still had parts of me that were soaked. Ugly weather = ugly game. It was raining basically all game, coming down pretty good at times.

When going through the game thread at half time, I couldn't believe people were upset we only threw 8 times in the first half. The weather was 01-rivals . Not the best weather for throwing.

WMU has the biggest a$$ hole fans ive ever met. Every single one said f. Toledo and even when prompted to talk by "good luck" from my ut buddies. Annoying dj. Crappy weather. Cocky players that dance like 7th graders after they score... Terrible experience in kzoo... As i send this message from a motel 6.

Fumbled trying to fight for extra yards. Shot our selves in the foot... Some seemed rediculous. The pi they picked up on zo was terrible. He was held for 20 yards of course the ball wasnt catchable! I mean i thought we were going to lay down but we stayed in it and battled. This and BG being two only examples of fight i have seen at the end of regulation in the past two seasons. Wasnt pretty but 3-0... NIU didnt do it easy either. Maybe Kent will be a fun one in November...

Their QB was 30/37, no ints.

I don't think weather was the issue with the passing game. Woodside was focused on Jones instead of Zo for some reason. Could have been defensive match-up, instructions from coaches or could have been he was generally not having a great day.

Concerns: coaches seem to not be concerned about glaring ball possession issues with Jones on punts and Woodside anytime he's out of pocket. The run call at the end of game was beyond bizarre for the half a degree angle it might have given versus the risks of a hand-off and time in a stress situation.

Lots of concerns about coaching judgement but ultimately, Flecko's team made the mistake time and again of 3rd down pocket plays, giving our D time to react as opposed to running a quick hand-off or pass. We had that clear superiority and he fell down. I also get the feeling, when he's talking to reporter that he's auditioning for the next gig, basically implying his team is over-acheiving. Coach Campbell doesn't do that.

It is getting hard for me to read some of the negative posts. 3-0 and still in the MAC race sounds pretty good to me. Wasn't pretty, actually, down right ugly, but UT (players and coaches) found a way to win. Hats off to the loyal Rocket fans who made the trip and stayed to the end. Go Rockets!

Hmm, never have had any negative experience with WMU fans (not that I don't believe you...granted there weren't too many around us at any time today) but there was one secondary part of this game that thrilled me to death and that was watching that WMU sideline--every last player and coach and trainer--all obnoxiously dancing around to the sound of their ridiculous local rappers like they'd already won the game, when there's still 1:11 in the 4th, and we bounce back with a clutch drive to tie it up and sit them down.

Very interesting coming home still soaked and reading up on the perspectives of everyone who watched/listened to the game with a roof over their heads. I don't how these guys, on both sides, made so many plays--especially kicking. And totally understand most plays that failed. Only a fool could expect a clean game with those conditions.

fool, fan. Same thing. Western was playing under the same conditions and did IMO much better for what they had to work with, unless you want to think that they are somehow a better poor weather team. I don't believe this game would have changed much for us under ideal conditions.

30-37 at 370 yards for Western QB. Didn't seem to both him too much. All career highs, in a driving rain storm. Ball security and ability to actually cover a receiver in the secondary is this team's Achilles heal. Usually when a team has a difficult time running he ball, it make it more difficult to pass the ball. For some reason that equation doesn't work for our D. We have stopped the run all year, but cannot play pass defense. Coaches really need to re-evaluate their scheme and game plan in the secondary.

RE: Who's Ready for a 6-6 Season?
Did we win the game, or did Western lose it? Can see arguments for both. Horrible weather: both teams had to play in it. Turnovers? More for UT. Offense? Swanson carried the load for a missing Hunt much better than I had hoped for, and we made the Bronco's freshman stud RB a non-factor...but Western countered with a passing game that greatly exceeded ours. Terrell has more experience than Woodside, so that may have contributed. On D, we did have some key sacks and stopped some other drives, but did give up a 98 yard drive as well as the TD in OT. If their kicker hadn't hit the upright, we might still be playing~such was the evened and ineptness in this game.

At this point, the lack of execution that is sneaking back in on offense is the primary concern.
