Deliverance was filmed in Georgia.

Yet we all assume it took place in North Carolina which is what I think matters.

You know what happens when you assume something. There are no references whatsoever to North Carolina in the book or the movie. James Dickey conceived the idea for the book after his involvement in a traumatic canoe accident on the Coosawattee River (NW Georgia) in the early 1960's. The city from which the four men are from is widely considered to be Atlanta. The river where most of the book's action takes place, the Cahulawassee, closely resembles the Chattooga River, which forms the border between Georgia and South Carolina in the former's northeastern most corner in Rabun County.

Why are we wasting bandwidth arguing with GS fans over Deliverance. Don't feed the trolls and don't swallow the bait! 03-thumbsup

Because the GaSo posters always say Deliverance was about N.C. for some reason and the whole world knows it happened in Georgia in the movie.

dude. it's ok. seriously. it isn't a big deal that every time someone hears a banjo they associate it with the mountains in NC.

At the same temp, humid cold is worse. That was my point. I agree that overall Boone is colder, but not at the same temp.
I wonder if the Louisiana schools will be saying the same thing during snow games at The Rock in November 02-13-banana

40 degrees is 40 degrees no matter where you are, Gulf Coast or mountains. Mobile is not Miami and Boone is not Buffalo. Neither climate is extreme enough year round to stun the opposition. USA's quarterback grew up in Canada, so I assume he's pretty comfortable playing in the conditions he'll face tomorrow.

Really hot/humid weather is worse than cold weather for football. The elevation does matter, however. I'm a runner, and whenever I run in Boone it's exceedingly more difficult than running at home, which is the Raleigh area.

DING! DING! DING!!!!

FWIW, it's 47 degrees tonight here in Mobile, Appy fans... you do NOT have a monopoly on cold weather and our players play in and practice in colder weather than this all the time.

For those who haven't played the game in cold weather, I grew up in Alaska where some of our games were played in the 90's and some in the snow below freezing in blizzards. I didn't prefer playing in blizzard conditions but I *did* love playing in the low 40's / upper 30's -- PERFECT conditions and yes, we still sweated like crazy and I don't remember EVER being cold -- quite the opposite, in fact.

Like I said -- BOL to y'all but like many have pointed out, the cold weather ain't gonna have a damned thing to do with the outcome of the game... I promise!

Someone has missed the point. The coldest day in LA doesn't touch Boone cold, you aren't going to experience cold this weekend. I hope you enjoy a nice perfect football weather game tomorrow.

You do know they were kidding. Right.

By the way, Charlotte TV weather said there would be a hard freeze in Boone area Saturday night.
Probably not until @ 1AM Sunday though.
Just wear layers. Even in the hottest of summer you need a light jacket many times at night.

Cold won't change anything. It's not like either team has been practicing THIS season in cold weather yet. Both will be effected equally, which means not at all. The factor that will effect both squads is wind, you can't prepare for changing, swirling wind.

Not in our front yard. The dilapidated town scene was shot in Sylva, which is less than ten miles from Western Carolina. But the infamous Ned Beatty scene was filmed in Rabun County Georgia.

C'mon guys, try to put a little effort into the smack. We all know USA had a home crowd this year larger than anything App has ever had or probably ever will have.

Problem is, they showed up for just that game. What did you have for our game? Just a tad over 11,000, I believe.
