So I guess they weed themselves out in the end?

Usually.

Unless they're a house that rhymes with SmessAE at the UI campus and have rich alums.

SAE got in trouble at Alabama and ended up furnishing an entire library. Alabama is SAE's Alpha chapter anyways.

Any time any of them get in trouble they buy the school something and everything is forgiven.

That's every frat at any decent sized school across the South.

If anything, Tulane's Greek system is relatively impoverished.

I was an SAE at Cincinnati, which is arguably the 2nd most historically significant chapter outside of Alabama. The UK chapter is worse than Alabama because their house was purchased by the founders of Outback Steakhouse. Before the new house completed they were suspended from campus for 2 years due to hazing and issues with their parties. Unfortunately you can point to almost every fraternity having these issues at some point... that's why most have gone dry. SAE has formally gotten rid of the pledge process as well to try and get rid of the hazing.

Some schools have created on campus "Greee Rows". This allows schools to regulate the houses, ie regulate alcohol, etc.

That's a shame.

There is certainly a real effort to destroy the institutions or at very least drastically alter them.

It isn't lost on me that the Greek system is a bastion of wealth and conservatism that are targeted mercilessly by liberals etc.

Stink, I think he was asking.. what is a "high school frat". I mean you had the jocks, the nerds, the snobs, the emos, etc... but I've never heard of having an actual fraternity in High School... Cliques, yes. Frats?

I can't speak to it as I never saw it.

1. We never served open alcohol like harry buffalo or anything due to risk management.

2. We always served in closed cans of Natty Light. I actually picked up girls by having Miller Lite on me and it served as a great opening to start a conversation by offering them something better than Natty (I know a lot of people would argue as to whether Miller Lite is better, but there is no doubt it is better than Natty and Beast).

I never saw it either. All our parties had a guest list and an off duty cop at the door.

Same here. Risk management rules forced us to do that.

That being said, plenty of people not on the guest list made it in (as in pretty much anyone). We always had off duty sheriffs working security to protect the fraternity should someone claim anything underhanded went on.

When the pledges had the organized swaps we served mixed drinks and stuff but girls etc were watched by their older girls and the guys were watched by the older guys to make sure that it was all safe.

We never served mixed drinks etc when it was just a party though, only beer.

Yeah, the guest list was pretty much for insurance purposes. Pretty mcuh just printed out the school register. lol. Never had an issue that wasn't quickly resolved though.
