Eastern Kentucky
EKU went on the road for the third time in four weeks and returned to Richmond big winners. Beat UT-Martin 49-24 while gaining 533 total yards offensively and forcing three interceptions defensively. Off this week before traveling to Austin Peay and hosting Eastern Illinois in a critical match-up on October 11th. Here's to hoping for games in the SBC soon!

Success on the field is just part of the story. Lots of aesthetic changes happening at Roy Kidd Stadium right away but I hear the administration is moving forward with the $15 million renovation to RKS, improvements to baseball and softball, and a possible indoor facility.

EKU and Missouri state both making significant progress.

If I'm Idaho...that's probably not the news I want to hear with league renewal coming up for debate in two years.

Win a NC, bump attendance up to 20,000, and expand the stadium ASAP. Until then, you got a long way to go, but good luck!

It's the perfect scenario:

Eastern teams get EKU (tighter footprint), Western teams get Missouri State and loses Idaho (solid BBall, tighter footprint). NMSU all sports.

Leaves a 12 football, 13 all sports split out, and some improved B-Ball... I like it.

We keep working to the NC. So far, much better team than we've had in a while.

Stadium expansion will be done to start 2016.

Roy Kidd stadium sucks just as much as Roy Kidd did. I can remember him whining and crying about Marshall out bidding EKU for the a playoff game in 1991. EKU was 12-1 with their only loss coming against IA Louisville 24-14. Marshall was 10-3 with 2 SoCon losses and a loss to NC State 15-14. After the game EKU got back on their bus on the way back home to Richmond KY with their season over with a 14-7 loss. EKU made the trip back to Huntington in 1992 for the 1st round and got dismantled 44-0.

It was pretty much how the NCAA played the game at the time. I want to say Samford was #2 and had to go to YSU the same day.

Roy Kidd sucked to 315 wins. He had the right to complain, but it was up to our school to come up with the bid. You had just built the larger stadium and there was no way we could outbid you.

Heard the same from Marshall fans when Boise put in a max bid with one person guaranteeing a full sell out. Just the way getting a home game used to be played.

We'll still need to update the Begley Building part of the stadium as the concrete needs to be refurbished.

Hearing that there may be some improvements to Begley in the near future (as early as this season) to go along with the east side facility.

Can Idaho seriously be voted out? Has a team ever been voted out of a conference before?

Since Idaho is an associate member, they are renewed every two years, and at any point the league can non renew them for any reason. See UMass and the MAC. At some point the league said, all sports or nothing and sent the Minutemen out the door.

That's different from actually voting a league member out...which creates bad blood. Temple got expelled from the Big East quite a while back. There was talk at one point that the Big 10 might expel Penn State after the Sandusky scandal.

That's why I think both EKU and MSU are quietly trying to get the facilities in order to look at being members 2016. No insider info, just my hunch.

2016 would make sense as a good date to use our look-in with ESPN as well. App, GS, GSU, and Texas State would have been in the league for at least 2 full seasons each, and had enough TV games to give ESPN and the league a sense of what they are worth.

Worth noting that EKU moved up 4 spots to #19 in The Sports Network top 25 poll. Hopefully we can keep momentum as high as it is on and around campus right now. No better way to move up than to win.

Eastern Kentucky and Missouri State should be our primary targets. Improves our image a bit in basketball and gets us to the championship game that many schools want...add in New Mexico State all sports and that's a pretty good conference

Man, the Southern Conference really stinks since App St. and we left. I love when they said we'd never be missed. They are now swimming in a sea of mediocrity.

And yet not long ago it was the #1 conference in FCS.

To the Citadel and Chattanooga crowd, I say it couldn't happen to a better crowd. I do hate to see Furman and Wofford go down the tubes with them. I might want to throw in Western Carolina with them as I've always felt sorry for them. By the way, what's the deal with Wofford? They've really done nothing since we left.
