There is a bigger vision to this plan, NIU is going all-in on the future and hopes to join a bigger conference. Its a gamble, but a gamble worth taking and that has to be taken. Kudos to Frazier, excellent job.

Several. That's more than 2. 3 for sure, maybe 4?

If you want a statement what that loss Saturday did to our morale, a month ago this thread would have had 4,000 views already

If that game damanged anyone's morale, they're an idiot.

1, Frazier is doing an excellent job, can't wait to see what the future holds for our Huskies. Young QB, young D, hopefully recruit some solid o-lineman, deep at RB position, the future is bright. Win division, win conference, win bowl

Why is that though? I think 80% of us expected to NIU to be more competitive on that game. I thought it would get out of hand but certainly not in the fashion that it did. What is so demoralizing to me is that NIU's strength was dominated by Arkansas' weakness, some of that I feel is self-inflicted though which hurts. NIU should have made a better showing. The other demoralizing part, which is probably even moreso in my opinion, is just going forward. There is not one game NIU could win the rest of the way they would get credit for including the Sun Belt bowl game in Mobile, not because its fair but its because its just the perception out there. People speak of how poor the MAC is but I am frustrated with this conference for another reason and that is bowl-tie ins. I know you will never be able to work out a highly attractive bowl, but the way its set up now essentially provides no reward for the best team. The 5th MAC team in a bowl could very well be in a better post-season position than the best team which is just ludicrous.

They couldn't block an SEC line, how is that shocking? It was the obvious concern going into the game. I don't think anyone who watched that game (Arkansas fans included) think they're 38 points better than NIU. It's a loss. I know where not used to that around here, but it happens.

Seriously, if your expecations/hopes for this year was NIU going 12-0, slap yourself. They're probably going to finish the regular season, AT WORST, 9-3, but they're most likely in line for another double digit win season with a trip to Detroit on the line against Huskie Stadium in DeKalb.
Get a grip.

Yeah I know, its more just the road ahead which is demoralizing. Its like walking through a maze you have walked through 100 times and knowing if you make it to the finish there is nothing there waiting for you worth anything. I hate to say such a bleak statement but I can't deny how I feel. That's why I hope someday that the college football playoff gets expanded somewhat to include conference champions

The only chance of a conference change is if it comprises some of the MAC teams with some other mid majors. The Big 12 is an impossibility. Our Ath budget is about $19mill. The avg Big 12 budget is about $50mill, maybe more. Arkansas budget I belive is $98 mill which may be what NIU whole school budget is.

Its possible because one thing you forget is the massive amounts of money a change in conferences would bring

I hope we go 3-9 for the sole reason of making this quote my signature on here.

No! You misunderstand me, Im not saying the MAC road is easy, far from it, I think there is very very good football in the MAC. We have seen this already with BG beating Indiana who turned around and shocked Missouri. Ball State took Iowa to the wire, NIU dominated Northwestern, Toledo with out their starting QB nearly beat Cincinatti. I am high on MAC football, what I am down on is 1) the false perception "mid major" football has taken on and 2) the fact the MAC provides no motivation for its best teams in post season play. By number 1 I mean, NIU will get no credit for any MAC win, but will get unjustly eaten alive with a MAC loss (to a team that will be very good)
