You guys could definitely win Saturday but we got some hungry players. New season new year, you middle guys are living off the past to indicate the outcome.

Wait. What. How bout all those wins over Miss State and USC. Who is living in the past??

You guys are living off 1984 if not fantasy land. Which one of those is worse?

And to correct you none of us are living off the past to indicate the outcome of this weekend. Just seems strange how quickly you all can minimize recent events while at the same time attempting to validate your self-prescribed superiority over that lil ole pee hole of a school in Murfreesboro. It is if nothing else excellent comedy and entertaining. In fact, for those of you who have meandered over to the CUSA board you will note that I'm actually on the record that this is probably toughest matchup for us since the series started. I wholeheartedly believe that Memphis is improved and has a better team than any of the previous six.

That said, the delusion or at least the lack of awareness of "recent" history is astounding by some of you. But carry on in your fantasy land. Don't let me get in the way. We'll just keep enjoying the amusement. Thanks for the laughs.

I'm ready for the series to be over. It was an interesting experiment but there is nothing for us to gain by playing you guys. So, I'm with your folks on this one. Time to move on and experience something new.

Nothing to gain for either side. MTSU has proved in recent years they are up to task (and don't have to continue to prove it now that it appears we're working our way back up). Memphis will likely win this game and likely win most future match ups if visible improvements continue, and will see no credit for wins against a CUSA team.

Best for both sides in a rare case. Neither team at this point gets credit in the press for a win and both teams actually deserve more quality opponents than the other. Weird case where BOTH sides may have outgrown the need for the game…

MTSU can find a strong regional home and home, we can try to schedule up some more. Good for everyone...

You seem like a level headed guy, and I agree with a lot of what you are saying. From our POV, we were the worst team in football and our program was decimated during most of this series. We just reached a full team this year and they way we have played has us actually excited for football this year. Last years game left a bad taste in our mouth and this years team is completely different and improved. We are getting to the point, true or untrue, that we should beat you. This game is huge for how our season could unfold, and we want to win and win big by making a statement.

Btw, Greg Pogue might be a WKU graduate but he has been immersed in the Boro and MTSU for years.

You may need to talk to your coach.

So, I will pick this one statement to look at and ask a question.

"should beat" ... as annointed under what law (law as defined as a statement of fact...not in the judicial sense for you slower Memphis grads).

Is it because you guys were allowed to change your name and we are not? Is it because TSU under the Geier Lawsuit never set out to stymie professional programs at Memphis as they did at MT? Or is it because you guys actually believe you play at a higher level (by again invoking Tatoo from Fantasy Island?)

The reality which may be tough for some of you to grasp is that we both come from similar origins (we just had a tougher time growing up than you guys did due to external factors), we are both looking up athletically at power conferences and neither of us are ever likely to see ourselves be invited to one of those type leagues. There isn't but maybe a handful of teams that would beat either one of us 10 out of 10 times if we played that many in all of college football, which means that just about anyone can beat anyone else on any given Saturday. Perhaps that's too much logic for this board, but whatever.

Good luck rest of the season. I have no ill will toward Memphis. I do; however, find the holier than thou attitude some Memphis fans have as utterly and completely unjustified. Cheers!

tiger2000's original statement is valid. The article does read the way you would expect it to, if a MTSU grad had written it.

My opinions on this issue do not reflect him and his do not reflect me. But he says that about every in state school even the I-AA schools and UT. I think he fails to acknowledge there are only four OOC opportunities in a given year. Can't play everyone.

Well, I have an MBA from Middle, and I damn sure would not have written the article like that, so I'm still not convinced.

I do not know the plans of the Tiger AD, but hopefully we both get what we want by ending the series.

Should as in everyone at the university is on board to fully invest in football for the first time. We want to create a football program like our basketball program. In doing so our mind set and actions is about winning. My statement isn't just for MTSU but for almost every team on our schedule. On paper we look even, but we have to play to win instead of playing not to lose. To sum it up, its a mind set that we have and will continue to try a change. Most times when our basketball team plays, we feel that we should win.

They are talking about possibly charging for the event on the Vernon Show.

May charge a small amount of money to try to create a more "family friendly" environment.

Forum officials pushing this for security reasons and are afraid of the stampede that comes with letting anyone in
