Oddly enough as much as the people from the AAC or Sunbelt still refuse to acknowledge the success we are having on the field, you can tell they respect it because they no longer use derogatory terms to describe us (for the most part) they actually refer to us as C-USA. Hard to belittle someone who keeps whoopin your tail!

As long as we aren't coined "isis", I'm ok.

I don't know how anyone can refuse to acknowledge CUSA's success this year. The results speak for themselves. I think that eventually budgets and investments in programs will make it difficult for some of the less funded CUSA programs to maintain this level, but even with smaller budgets the Florida programs have the built in advantage of having a seemingly unlimited pool of speed and talent in their back yard. I don't see how anyone could ignore the success that the conference is enjoying right now. Congrats on the really good season, you've surpassed most people's expectations.

RE: CUSA is showing off and others can't stand it!!!
It's been a great year for CUSA to date -- however, P5 wins are needed to draw attention... we can beat all the average/weak G5 programs we want, until we're knocking off the top programs of the G5 and members of the P5, we're going to keep being frustrated by the lack of acknowledgement. Once we start beating each other up week in-and-out in conference play, we'll play into their narrative of just average G5 teams, unless someone runs the table by blowing the rest away.

Our lack of true national tv exposure hurts too and that is where the MW and AAC might take an advantage; as they'll each have two or three top teams and a weak bottom of their leagues that will take its lumps allowing the top to excel -- too much parity could hurt and lack of exposure could keep teams from being mentioned in late season discussions unless Marshall is putting the hurt on everyone. The Herd needs big margin wins with the overall weak strength of schedule of the conference. If the Herd makes an Access Bowl, they need to win for CUSA respect - otherwise we'll hear they had a creampuff schedule and weren't tested and one or two loss teams from other conferences were more deserving.

CUSA needs a p5 win badly and the AAC teams to beat each other up. An undefeated Marshall vs. a 1 loss ECU or Cincy would be a hard choice for the selection committee.

I don't agree with the true national TV exposure comment. What exactly do you mean by that?

Yeah, it is a real shame that we don't have any P5 wins. Had A LOT of opportunities, but just couldn't quite win them.

If Marshall takes care of business and makes the Access Bowl, we'll get a lot of exposure just from that. Hopefully the HoD bowl will also feature a P5 opponent instead of a ****** MWC opponent like it did last year.

Same can be said for the AAC.

Nationwide, people know UConn and Cinci very well. Nobody knows much else about the rest of the teams.

I was talking about ECU with my coworkers last week (we live in NC) about the USC matchup. Every person in my office thought ECU was a garbage program and had no idea what conference they even played in. They were shocked I told them ECU routinely puts 40-50,000 people in their stadium on game days and usually puts a good product on the field.

And these were sports fans! One was a big Auburn fan, one is a HUGE South Carolina fan, and the other is a more casual Arizona State fan.

Completely clueless about ECU. You have to keep in mind that people that post on forums like this know so, so, so much more about college sports teams than people that don't.

Even Cinci is a relative unknown to younger people that weren't big sports fans when Cinci was ranked in the top 10 almost every year in basketball. If you aren't in the top 25 for basketball or football almost every year (or named after a state), most people know nothing about you.

If you did a search for "Marshall," there's a good chance you'd get more hits from the AAC board than anywhere else.

I mean, CUSA is not on any network that garners the households or ratings of true coast-to-coast national exposure.

They live in their own little ESPiN world, I bet they don't know about USM's 18 straight bowl games or CUSA having 3 10 win teams last year.

We have finished ranked in basketball 3 of the last 4 year and have been ranked at some point 5 straight years!!! In football we've finished ranked 4 of the last 6 years. I've followed college sports quite closely and before this season started the only C-USA teams I knew were UNCC, UTEP, UAB and Southern Miss!!!!!!

As long as the committee knows where to find Marshall games that is all that matters. Household ratings or coast to coast national exposure isn't going to get Marshall the access bowl slot, performance on the field will do that.

And yet you was still left behind when the BE finally destructed. As was USF who at one point made it to #2 and UConn who was a Charter member of the BE.

I remember reading in 2003 Cincy ppl talking about how Louisville and Cincy were tied at the hip and one wouldn't leave without the other. I guess Jurich found a pair of scissors and cut you off, because they left you in the dust.

And I don't see any of you going anywhere for a long long time...
