This game seemed very much like your game against Texas State back in 2012. Does your head coach have trouble getting along with assistant coaches? After the Texas State game he fired the OC. Your OC from last year left after one year and your new OC seemed lost tonight.

Words cannot describe how PISSED we are in Houston right now. I think we are going to need a few days of silence to get over this one.

There were many of us (myself included) who were never comfortable with this hire. The man was hired to coach running backs in Levines first year. When the Nesbitt disaster occurred, he stepped in and did a decent job running that offense. That said, we stmbled to a 5-7 record and played one of the weakest schedules in our history.
The following year, Levine--who was feeling some heat himself--- obviously didn't think Bush was OC material--had a nationwide search and landed Meachum---a very qualified OC candidate. While many Coog faithful were not knocked out by Meachum--he was certainy competent. Bush, as a reward for his work in the ill fated 2012 season was named co-OC.
When Meachum was lured to TCU at the end of last season, there was no exhaustive search. Tony simply gave the job to Travis Bush. Bush is a decent coach and a solid recruiter---but I don't see him as the kind of guy Houston has always looked to for offensive magic. He neither creative nor innovative. His offense looks no more creative than your average Jr High offense. Worse yet, Bush also doubles as the QB coach. Why exactly is the guy Tony hired to coach running backs 2 years ago coaching QB's? I think Bush is an outstanding choice as a RB coach. I don't think the same when he is named OC+QB Coach. Bush is basically a case study of the Peter Principle at work.
I could not be more embarrassed about the way this evening turned out---but I knew it was possible the day no significant candidate search was performed for the job of offensive coordinator. The bowl game last year was a precursor. The offense was listless and totally unproductive for the entire first half. They hit a few big plays when Vandy backed off a bit in the 3rd quarter--but by the 4th, the offense returned to its 3-and-out roots. Bush is disaster--and Levine will likely pay for it with his job. I like a lot about Levine--but I think he ultimately undermined his own job with his poor hires.

I'm disgusted with our performance... Unbelievable.

I feel for you Houston fans. I'd be furious, too. But that bumping-full brand new stadium was absolutely stunning on ESPN. All these CUSA trolls on the board tonight that think one loss to a CUSA school closes the gap with the AAC don't have a clue. It's the program gaps between budgets, the traditions, the boosters, the new stadiums like the one on national tv tonight, and attendance that separates us from the G4. Defeating one football team for one game doesn't close it. Especially, the same team that curb stomped them 59-28 last year.

Might have to fire Tony at the end of the year and bring Doug Meacham back as head coach.

RE: Houston fans
We are devastated!
The stadium wont be "bumping-full" after a disaster like that.
Levine's judgment in hiring OC's calls our AD's decision making in hiring Levine into question.
David Gibbs seems to have done a solid job with the defense but the rest of our house is a mess.

I went to bed before the game ended, did Houston ever give their backup QB a shot? I thought O'Korn really struggled last night, that being said the offensive line played poorly as well.

I believe it was the backup qb (Cosh?) who engineered the only score late in the game. He looked pretty good.

At that point both teams were playing 2nd and 3rd strings. That said he did put together a nice drive to prevent the shutout.

It's just one game. You can't make definitive statements about coaches and programs from one game.

If Texas State hadn't happened in 2012 you would be right. Unfortunately, it did.

They're over rated. Game had upset written all over it. UTSA is probably one of the top 2 or 3 teams in cusa now and hungry to win. Should've scheduled an FCS for the opener.

"It's the program gaps between budgets, the traditions, the boosters, the new stadiums like the one on national tv tonight, and attendance that separates the P5 from the G5."--Fellow ECU fan, that's what the P5 says about us. You realize that right? Don't for a second get all high and mighty thinking your better than someone else because something like THIS HAPPENS and Houston gets blown out by a 3 year old team at home. Cut the "we are better than them bs", because when multiple MWC/CUSA losses happen to this league this season, you'll look like less of a douche. I'll all about ECU, and ECU getting to where it needs to be, could care less about the rest of this weak stick league.
