The picture being missed here is that the tournament will actually produce some semi-decent opponents. ECU will probably end up playing Fresno State (MWC), Evansville (MVC), Florida Gulf Coast (ASUN) or the University of San Francisco (West Coast Conference). Those schools are equal or better than James Madison. So there are probably 3 more decent games there.

AAC basketball schedule will be released this afternoon
So let met get this straight...

4 non-d1s - OUR SCHEDULE SUCKS! THE SKY IS FALLING!
1 non-d1 outside of tournament play - OUR SCHEDULE SUCKS! THE SKY IS FALLING!

Do you guys not get that this schedule is a transition schedule for us? We likely signed home and home with some of these schools that sets us with future opponents in the coming years that we can add regional opponents as needed to keep the schedule fresh. Granted some of these might be one off deals, but in our first year of trying to schedule an actual schedule it's pretty dang solid.

It's going to take a long time to get used to non-Big East basketball. I do really miss playing our old rivals. UConn has to get some OOC games with Cuse, Nova, G'Town, and Pitt ASAP.

So much for that AAC D2 rule. If there is one I expected we'd blow it off the way we love friggen D3's.

Didn't you tell me ECU would finish in the top 75 of the RPI??? Or did you say 175???

I said we should finish top 125. If we don't finish anywhere close to that Lebo can pack his **** as far as I'm concerned.

Year 5 shouldn't be a transition anything. That schedule is just awful regardless. 1 BCS school, marquee home game JMU/UNCW. Give me a break, before Lebo we used to get many BCS schools in Minges, even Wake, Clemson, and NC State in recent years. Quality mid majors too like VCU, Richmond and George Washington, nearly yearly and the 4 D2's was just absolutely pathetic regardless. Just because there are now 2 doesn't excuse that awful ****.

RE: AAC basketball schedule will be released this afternoon
Is there some minimum number of home games we are trying to reach?

Because I'd rather us play more road games OOC if it would lead to better home games. H&H with Charlotte, ODU, VCU, etc would be preferable, especially since those games would likely get TV coverage. No way we get on TV with the schools we have visiting now.

This is not meant as a troll, this is an honest question. Why is ECU not leveraging the success they have in football to schedule some solid OOC basketball games?

I look back at the football schedule and I see South Carolina, VT, UNC, NC State and WVA over and over again, how do you not have 2 or 3 of them on your OOC basketball schedule each year? Even if its not a home and home you should be leveraging your football success to get some quality opponents on your basketball schedule. Is it not something your AD or coach has tried? It seems the toughest part in getting a FB/BB agreement is the football match up based on the limited number of OOC games, you guys have already locked up the toughest part.

I think you'll end up getting a series with Villanova at at some point in the not too distant future because Villanova is looking to beef up its OOC and a game with UConn at WFC will draw better than any BE game other than G'town. UConn and Villanova talked about a game for the upcoming season but when Nova got the Jimmy V game talks ended.

ECU used to play VCU, NCSU, Wake Forest, VT, Clemson and a few others. The schools even played ECU in Greenville. ECU beat NCSU one time, so that series is now only played in Raleigh every few years. ECU haven't played the others in a little while, but for some weird reason UNC has scheduled ECU 2 of the last 3 years, but only at UNC.

The fact that you guys used to have those programs on your schedule but no longer do, is that more just because the match ups are possible but your AD or coach is choosing not to schedule them?

I'd think we would throw Richmond a football game for a home and home in bball

I don't even think you would need to. VT yeah, you would, but Richmond doing a home and home basketball is definitely doable with no football.

Before Lebo we routinely played at least 1 BCS school at home often and nearly always played at least one or two from VCU, George Washington, Richmond, ODU, George Mason etc. Since the late 90's we have had all these teams coming to minges

Georgia
South Carolina
Virginia Tech
West Virginia
Ol Miss
Seton Hall (snow out)
Wake Forest
NC State
Clemson

and then usually a few quality mid majors too.

These Lebo schedules are just awful. Our best home game is friggen JMU. We aren't even getting the VCU's or Richmond's anymore and forget the BCS OOC home games. The sad thing is this is actually an improvement.

its clear to see who espn/cbs likes

tier one
uconn
cincy
memphis
smu

tier 2;
temple/tulsa

tier 3:
tulane
houston
ecu
usf

tier 4:
ucf

the kind of coverage tier 1 is getting is CRAZY!!!!...compared to c-usa were are all on a dramatically different level even the tier 4 teams

hopefully Houston jumps up in importance in the eyes of the tv execs by next season or maybe midseason this year and some of our games get bumped up in network

I would think VCU, Richmond and GW are perfect for you guys to have a home and home with, even a Home, Home, Neutral would work. The fact that you guys used to have those programs on your schedule but no longer do, is that more just because the match ups are possible but your AD or coach is choosing not to schedule them?

Not to pile on, but how in the heck is that schedule going to get ECU anywhere near 125 in the RPI? That is freaking terrible!
