This Saturday, 8/23/14 at 3:30pm, ESPN will be airing Sam Houston State at Eastern Washington as part of their new FCS Kickoff one week prior to the rest of the regular season of college football.
Since FCS is our home for the foreseeable future, I plan on watching this as support for the subdivision and I hope you all will too. It should be a competitive game between recent Fcs powers and the game is sold out as well.
I would imagine that if ratings are favorable, this could become a regular airing that would only help the perception via more exposure for FCS Football.

Disclaimer: Although it's a lost cause to say this, please spare us your "I don't care about Fcs" comments. As I'm sure you so proudly say in other, beating a dead horse threads, "you don't have to read it."

This will almost certainly best FCS vs FCS OOC game of the season. Also, the red field is always fun.

I hate the red field and FCS ftball is JV garbage at best. Can we move this to OT, please?

Preseason NFL is the worst...in fact, the NFL is the worst. I read an article today on cbssports about the league trying to crack down and penalize players for using foul and offensive langauge during games (no doubt in response to the Martin/Incognito fiasco)...

We'll ignore the oversized men running full speed at each other doing permanent brain and spinal damage, but you better not be mean when you do it!

Great matchup but that field gives me a headache.

great post. been looking forward to this game for awhile.

i'm probably in the minority, but i think EWU will CRUSH SHSU. i have respect for SHSU, but i'd be surprised if it wasn't at least a 10 point win for EWU.

Yes the field is an eyesore, I will admit. Red is harder on the eyes than the Boise blue or UCA purple and silver.
I hope the home team wins for great atmosphere with a 20k crowd.
Speaking of colored turf, ccu just announced they're installing a teal turf.

Will probably tune in and watch if I am at home even though that red field makes my eyes bleed!!

Should be a good one and I'm pulling for EWU too. I feel like the Southland has more bid-stealing potential whereas the Big Sky's already more assured of multiple bids, but maybe I'm making that up. And it's obviously not going to be a dagger for either team's chances in a 24-team field.

This is going to be a fun game to watch. Eastern Washington has a soft spot in my heart after what they did to Delaware in the title game a few years ago.

I thought it was great when this was announced last spring. But I've been very disappointed that ESPN isn't marketing it at all. If you watch any ESPN network you'll see a million commercials for Texas A&M and South Carolina but not one for this game. Failed opportunity IMO.

I don't think I've seen espn promote any games other than bcs games over the years. They don't typically promote any G5 games they may air, including their Mac games.
The Mac highlights are brief afterthoughts on sportscenter too.
The P5 are as powerful as they are because they keep only focusing on them and no one else.

In my opinion, the greatest NFL QB!

Should be an interesting football game. Especially with former Hens coach "KC" Keeler replacing Fritz at Sam Houston to see how his offense does against Eastern Washington. At least there will be no game stoppage for blood, they would
never find it on that field.
