The way GP is telling it, it sounds like Skal is a walking NCAA investigation. Talking about foundations getting funded, shopping a kid to multiple coaches, etc. Granted, as long as no one says anything we can't get busted (maybe the #3 player is worth that risk) ...

Was just about to post the same thing. I'm with Parrish, I'm pissed Hamilton is f'ing up this thing so bad, and now Parrish is talking about Hamilton. It's all stuff you knew was going on behind the scenes, but pretty interesting to hear him talk about it so openly on the radio. If you missed it it's worth listening to the podcast later.

Why can't the guardian simply wait? Let the kid go to a college (preferably Memphis) for 1 season, get high profile, get drafted in the NBA and get paid big time and be done with it. Is he that greedy to risk messing it all up?

Yeh, I was surprised at how open GP was. He went in on Hamilton pretty hard.

Hamilton deserves it...and more, much more.
Publicly flogged would let him off easy.

At this point, I don't think it's realistic to expect to see Skal in a Tiger uniform. This Hamilton dude is bad news.

It sounds like Skal has little or no say in his recruitment or education process whatsoever.

Who is this Hamilton guy and how did he get his hands on Skal?

If the NCAA is calling around asking questions then its not really GP doing anything, he's just reporting on what Hamilton is 'already' doing that's creating a stir

What Gerald is doing now is in the best interest of Gerald, not Skal. If he doesn't get a grip, eventually all this in due time will catch up with him. Once Skal comes to the realization of all this (even in hindsight after signing on professionally somewhere), and with the help of a third party (such as a strong figured individual associated with the league), Gerald's plans will likely be severly compromised.

It's unfortunate and he's only thinking in terms of positioning himself so that he won't get completely cut out. It's all about control for Gerald but what he doesn't seem to quite get is he's doing many things that Skal wouldn't agree with but doesn't quite have the voice to disapprove. Once he gets that voice then it's curtains for a long imagined gravy train. If he actually "asked" Skal what "he" wanted to do, this recruitment would've been over last year.

I guess, but in the world of jockeying for position, everyone has at least one angle. GP was talking about the details of these gifts to Hamilton's 'ministry' before now...and being very explicit. Did the NCAA come calling before or after? I'm pretty sure I don't have much invested at this point...I'm just asking in a neutral capacity.

What's the relevance with your statement? If you're referring to Skal's guardian its common practice and it's nothing particularly wrong with looking out for yourself. However, its how you do it and still hold the kid's best interest at heart in the process.
