RE: UAB Media Day
On competing against Southeastern Conference teams"It's all about the next game. It's going to be another game. We are going to want to play well everyday. We need to get up for the first game and the league games. They are all important."

Really? Does everything football down here has to refer back to the sec when discussing UAB?

Over all a good read.

RE: UAB Media Day
Listening to coach Clark, he's saying all the right things. He's almost got me lured in to where I'm not just optimistic but to where I'd be surprised if we lost. Just seems like (finally) we have a head coach who knows what the hell he is doing. What if we did win somewhere between 6-9 games in Year 1? As the time has gone by we've won 2, 3, 4 games. There's always been a few games we were in position to win that we lost as result of a bad call/poor judgement by coach during the game. Now we have a coach who has been there and done that.

RE: UAB Media Day
Temper your optimism with the knowledge that:
A) There is usually an adjustment period when you are going to a new offense. New names for plays, routes and audibles; new ways to signal those plays in. It tends to make players play slower the first half of that first season because they are having to think about everything instead of just doing it.

B) We have a large number of juco guys who we are counting on to contribute immediately who didnt get to go through spring practice. It will take them a few games to get caught up.

C) The core of the team is made up of players that have won 20%-29% of their games while at UAB.

+1

XCNC ran the spread while here. Finally hiring a defensive mind should win a couples games.XCNC recruiting somewhat got better towards the end. Most of the DLine comes from him.

RE: UAB Media Day
The big difference I see in Bill Clark compared to UAB's previous head coaches is that his resume is full of success at places that need building... he built Prattville into a dominant high school program, he had a highly ranked defense as DC at a start-up USA program with no facilities and talent similar to UAB, and he took a 6-5 JSU squad and turned them into a 11-4 FCS playoff team in his first season.

As Coach Clark says, the proof is in the pudding. We'll see how this season turns out, but I just get the feeling we finally have the right fit for head coach.
