Yeah, some folks did the same with Heineken logo tshirts and got shut down. Those folks shut it down quickly and quietly. Nothing came of it.

No way Marshall gets punished for this tools actions….Just relax. Marshall's Compliance Dept is aware and appears to have responded to the matter in the proper manner. Not much else Marshall can do at this point.

LOL at Marshall actually posting the letter on twitter! That's funny as hell and I like it. Sure he is fan and trying to make some money, but dude, a quick check of the school's athletic website would tell you that's against the rules! Not making the shirt, but selling them.

You can see me talking to him at the end (@JWhidden3). Being a student, he didn't really know the rules so he didn't see a problem in making the shirt. The shirt is pretty awesome, if I was in another fraternity at Marshall I would be jealous of that shirt. The amount of coeds wearing that thing around would be insane.

He's not a tool nor is he an idiot. He's a kid who had the vision to make a really cool shirt that involves his university and his letters. I've done the same thing at FAU, just not including a player, and I'm sure many others have as well.

This is now no longer an issue.

Agreed, just glad Marshall caught this fast and got on top of it. Sure I want my Pirates to get the G5 slot, but I want it is question marks. I don't want because Cato lost his eligibility because of a student doing some shirts with his name on it. No cheap wins.

Yes he is a tool for saying he will not go down without a fight…Once the school notified him of his violation he should have just admitted his mistake and stopped selling them rather than trying to be defiant on the matter. That is what makes him a tool. Also I think it is rather crappy to use Cato's name for his own profit when Cato himself can not even do that at this time.

I seriously doubt ECU or Marshall will be up for that G5 slot at the end of the season. Also you do not have to worry about "cheap wins" as we do not play Marshall. If ECU has a good enough season to be in the running for the G5 slot I assure you Marshall will not keep ECU out even if they are undefeated. For ECU to be considered I suspect we could only have one loss and if we go through our schedule with only one loss there is no way an undefeated Marshall would get that spot over us due to their schedule this season.

When did Marshall get THAT good? I must have been away too long... Who's the team to beat?

If his fraternity is anything like mine, they probably wouldn't be too pleased with him selling shirts with their letters to the general public.

No, you totally missed my point. Marshall's performance has no bearing on ECU getting the G5 slot. If ECU is actually in the running for the spot Marshall will not be our competition even if they are undefeated due to the very weak nature of their schedule this season. To get the spot Marshall will have to be undefeated and hope most of the other "Top G5" teams have at least 2 losses. If there is a one loss Champion from the MWC, AAC, or Sun Belt they would all probably beat out Marshall for the spot even if they are undefeated. So to spell it out further for you…Marshall having Cato or not having Cato really makes no difference for ECU.
