So far --- The "two play" statement was more a "figure of speech" -- what was being said is that defense is going to be worked on and perfected first. The team already has three plays and will probably have five for first game but defense will come first in practices.

Hopefully it will come first in the games too.

I'm all for it...as long as someone remembers to include the absolutely being hammered. That's kind of all I remember about some of those games.

Some of guys need to get over it. it isn't a big deal and he said it was a figure of speech of sorts because the main focus is going to be on defense which many of you were screaming about last as one of the big problems.

I don't care how many plays we run as long as defense comes first. That's been much more of a shortcoming during Josh's tenure than the offense.

In 2010, his first year defensive efficiency was 163d- not good.
2011- 60th
2012- 16th in the nation
2013- 13th in the nation
2014- fell to 54th in the nation- clearly a lesser performance, but other than the one year glitch, his teams have gotten much better defensively.

I think part of the reason for the decline was better competition and better coaching on the other end. The Srs were unfamiliar with the level of effort and energy needed to compete on this regular of a basis.

Strength of schedule must be factored into such stats. IMHO

2013 KY- 129th nationally

But yes- his last several teams in Memphis and his first few teams in Lexingburg were rated very highly defensively. 2009 Memphis was number 1 before inexplicably allowing 432 points against Missouri.

But even the walk on water to many Narcissist's last two years' teams in Cooterville were far from demanding on defense.

Comparatively- overall defense in Pastner's first five years have been pretty good- last year's reversal notwithstanding.
