It's a sad day for football when you can't play the game on grass even in South Bend.

edt - at least they didn't clutter it up with logos. It'll still look good with the marigolds along the sidelines.

Man... What will the "Rudys" of the world do now? Some poor kid from Joliet will end up sleeping under an overpass now. (Just kidding...)

When teams that run an up-tempo, no-huddle offense play at ND now -- has ND figured out how to get the Field Turf blades to grow extra long for those games?

Looks great. I'm sure there is a small but highly vocal segment of ND's fanbase pulling their hair out right now over this.

I would have turf at my house if I had the option because I hate grass. The bugs, the time spent cutting it, how ugly it is dead during the winter, the bugs, the weeds. Yes, I said bugs twice because I especially can't stand ants.

My neighbors would go insane lol.

Ugly and dead in the winter? Huh. Up here it stays green in the winter and still looks alive. Unless there's snow on it, then it look even prettier, but you probably don't have much experience with that :)

The only time my grass looks dead is in July/August during a dry summer.

ND IS one of those type of teams right now thanks to Brian Kelly.

Other teams better worry about ND's tempo and speed on that Field Turf.

Defense may be young but not many teams will be able to stop ND's high powered offense.

Why so you think Kelly was the one who pushed for this?

Notre Dame would never install field turf in Notre Dame Stadium. You have to understand how important Notre Dame traditions are to Notre Dame fans, and one thing that Notre Dame would never do is play football on anything other than grass at home. This must be a lie. The fans would never put up with it, they would be rioting in the streets and contributions from alums would dry up.

ND isn't going to voluntarily give up FB independence without receiving something in return. But ND already has absolutely everything from the ACC that it wants; the ACC has no more bargaining chips. What part of the equation do you think will change?

RE: Notre Dame Stadium Field Turf installed
The majority of your remaining grass stadiums today are among the largest stadiums in college football. It's big news when someone with a big stadium like Notre Dame converts to FieldTurf.

Of the 85 college stadiums seating less than 62,000, only 15 have a grass surface:

NC St
Purdue
Iowa St
Georgia Tech
Colorado
East Carolina
Stanford
Northwestern
UCF
TCU
UConn
Duke
New Mex St
Florida Atlantic
Georgia Southern

Me and snow. No lol. I don't want to see snow unless I drive to the mountains.

Since when does Colorado have grass?

Do you mean Colorado State? Because CU has had AstroTurf for as long as I can remember.

EDIT: I just checked and Folsom apparently does have a grass surface... I grew up in Colorado and the joke (in the old Big 8 days) was that Colorado played on AstroTurf to keep the Nebraska cheerleaders from grazing... Marched on the crappy old original carpet surface many times...
