Lead off homer by holt went 398 feet to 2nd deck. Good for him!

I lost track but think holt went 4-5 today. Played well on rf and saw some time at 2b late in game. We had fun watching him play.

Actually 5 for 6 - career high in hits. Rendon also had a 3-hit today for the Nats so they were 8-11 combined.

RE: Holt lifts Sox
Thanks for the updates today. Good to see someone in Houston tracking him during this series. I thought there might be a bit more local press coverage on Holt, though a great outing by Buchholz got a lot of the attention.

MLB.TV had a video package of all 5 hits today in their video highlights from the game. It has been fun watching the Red Sox announcing team getting caught up in Brockomania.

I think a good many saw of us saw how "professional" Brock already was in how he approached the game in his one year at Rice.

Hard to forget Brock trying to bring Rice back after Rendon injured his ankle in Baton Rouge. Just a glimpse into what he could do...

What? He made an out?

Seriously, 10 for 15 in the series. Welcome back to Houston Mr. Holt!

A lefthanded hitter, Holt has hit lefties (.343 with an .872 OPS) better than righthanders (.316 with an .808 OPS). Holt is 16 plate appearances shy of qualifying, or he would be sixth in the American League in batting average.

Great long write-up on Brock's rise to the big leagues, with multiple quotes from the OG. Part 1 of a 2-part write-up. He's really won over a lot of fans in Boston.

I guess Rice as changed a bit since my day -

"Holt wouldn’t stand out at Rice, where the students running along the sidewalk could pass for part-time bodybuilders,"

Anthony Rendon always has a smile too. I told him if I could hit like you do I'd always have a smile too.

I'm thinking the author mistook outter loop runners for Rice students. Because we're still mostly a bunch of nerdy kids who avoid the gym (as of 2011 anyways).

Perhaps, but those "nerdy kids" are not the students running along the sidewallk! 01-lauramac2

Even in my day, there were lots of students in good physical shape, but "part-time body builders"? Nah.

Surprised that nobody has commented on the overstatement of Graham's age.
