Yeah, about that guy...

Quote:He discovered that Whitman’s brain harbored a tumor the diameter of a nickel. This tumor, called a glioblastoma, had blossomed from beneath a structure called the thalamus, impinged on the hypothalamus, and compressed a third region called the amygdala. The amygdala is involved in emotional regulation, especially of fear and aggression. By the late 1800s, researchers had discovered that damage to the amygdala caused emotional and social disturbances. In the 1930s, the researchers Heinrich Klüver and Paul Bucy demonstrated that damage to the amygdala in monkeys led to a constellation of symptoms, including lack of fear, blunting of emotion, and overreaction. Female monkeys with amygdala damage often neglected or physically abused their infants. In humans, activity in the amygdala increases when people are shown threatening faces, are put into frightening situations, or experience social phobias. Whitman’s intuition about himself—that something in his brain was changing his behavior—was spot-on.

Yeah, that guy was the first to exist of that type and now they are all over the place. I mean, you had criminals before that, even ones that killed like Bonnie and Clyde, Jesse James, etc, but they actually had understandable motives of greed and power. Other than the stray serial killer, the mass killings of unrelated, innocent people started when we turned our backs on God and they keep getting worse. In the 60s, they were hitting college campuses. In the 90s, they were hitting high schoolers. Now they hit elementary schools. In the 2020s it will be daycare facilities.

He's referring to the evil inside this man that caused him to execute a family of seven, by tying each one up and shooting them in the back of their heads.

Yeah, I read the article.

He's an evil bastard all right. It's the "evidence of demon spirits" I didn't find.

What is the alternate explanation?

SSRI's, probably. It's rare that a mass killing doesn't involve them.

Are you saying SSRI's cause mass killings, not the illnesses that are correlated with SSRI's and mass killings? The phrase "correlation does not imply causation" exists because people have the tendency to jump to conclusions without considering mediating/moderating/confounding variables.

If we're to believe the hype, anyone who behaves in a fashion that's different than the norm has a genetic issue even if they haven't isolated the gene yet. So with that said, it's not this guy's fault at all......................but fry his arse anyway and make it hurt.

Genes my ass...

You asked. From a religious man's point of view, this can easily be seen as someone that had demons infecting his soul.

Demonic possession is incurable through science. It makes some people uncomfortable and the more we have turned away from God, the more frequent these events have gotten. It started in the 60s with the ahole that shot up all those people from the UT clock tower and has accelerated from there.

Exactly. And someone will ALWAYS dig for something to find in order to veer away from this and use science to dig and dig and dig until they find a way to write something and disprove it was due to a demon.

Oh, I get it. If there are, and they didn't shoot anybody, that must mean his didn't cause it, either.

So, if scientists figured out how to cure it, then that would disprove demonic possession, right?

That's what science does. If it didn't we'd probably still think lightning is caused by Zeus and we can chase away solar eclipses, er, dragons, with drums.

What's the most likely explanation?

A vaguely defined entity that we can't perceive, or an measurable abnormality in the brain?
