Parking assignments
I called the athletic department to ask why I had not received a call regarding parking assignments. I was told that the calls will begin today and the hope to have contacted everyone be end of day Friday. We chatted a bit about changes to the gameday atmosphere, engaging local residents and business, etc.

A few other tidbits to note:

Only 10 chairbacks are left and most are singles.

The Premium seating survey was sent to 121,000 people only 1800 completed the survey. The will resend to everyone again in the next couple of days. Now we have an AD that is trying to engage season ticket holders and alumni about future improvements to HS and less than 10% respond...dont get it at all.

Season ticket sales are at 64% of last years total. They had hoped the deadline would get more early renewals. But based on years past they expect that August will be a big month for sales.

Maddawgz has in fact been blackballed by the athletic department.

RE: Parking assignments
Tim Rice called me last week for the chairbacks seats I wanted. I am very excited about that.

Very disappointing on the turnout on the survey. It shows not very many people are interested in the future of Huskie football. Even if you couldn't afford those seats they would still want you input and may decide to add more chairbacks or other accommodations.

Maybe I 'all take the survey multiple times to increase that number. I like the loge seating myself.

I think the reason for this is because 90% of us can't afford premium seating so we don't feel this is relevant to us. I didn't get the survey, but based on the questions that were posted by HuskieJohn, none of the survey questions regarding premium seating & skyboxes apply to those of us who can only afford regular season tix. I have no opinion on those things because I will never be able to afford them. So why are they asking us "peons"?

From the letter regarding the survey: "As an early step in the planning process for the next stage of improvements, we are very interested in your feedback. The survey questions will ask about your interest in private suites, indoor and outdoor club seats, and loge boxes."

The point that you don't want the premium seating is relevant and your surveys should reflect this. Not filling out your survey is no help to the Huskies.

The survey asked would you be interested in these seats you could just answer no. That information is as important as information asking how much you would pay if you were interested.

Thats a valid point. I feel they should include adding chairbacks questions in or reverse the order of the questions. They started with the most expensive option and scared off a lot of people. Their questions need to build up to the most expensive option.

RE: Parking assignments
Thanks for the info BobL.

-Survey. On the bright side. Sending to 121K means they reached out to anyone who has any connection to NIU. While 1800 isn't a high percentage back, they still got feedback from 1800 folks which is good info. My guess is many skipped doing it after seeing the topic wan't in their wheelhouse. It's not in my wheelhouse but I did complete the survey.

-Season Tickets at 64% of 2013 puts us at about 2600. Doesnt sound good to me. Goal was 8K. Looks like we'll be lucky to get to 5K.

If you don't respond to the survey at all, it tells the athletic department that you don't care. Don't complain when there are no enhancements to the stadium.

RE: Parking assignments
OK, I just filled out the survey. The beginning questions ask if you are a season ticket holder, how many games you attend, how far you travel. The rest is about premium seating & donations. None of which I can afford to do.

I think they should have a few other questions like rating the game day experience, rating the various tailgating or parking options, rating the stadium food, etc and maybe a place to provide comments on what might improve things.

That would be a different survey but certainly a valid and important one. Talking with the Athletic Department, there will be many changes this upcoming season...I would think that they might ask for input after the season. In any event the athletic department seems much more engaged than ever before and I have no doubt would welcome anyones input.

The fact that you don't want to pay more, and don't want any premium seating is important.

What if only those that wanted premium seating responded. Then, they could say that 100% of respondents wanted additional premium seating. So, there is a huge demand for premium seating. To fund this huge demand, all ticket prices may be increased.

This survey was very specific about seating and they tried to categorize you by the first few questions.

I never even received the survey. Maybe responses were low because they screwed up sending it out?

I filled out the survey but I wish they would have put a comment section on it. I was not interested in any of the new options because I have terrific seats in the 11th row on the 50 yd line and I really like to watch the game. However, I am in favor of the changes they are making.

Sean Frazier has a great vision and great plans, but the inability to attract new season ticket holders jeopardizes everything. I'll never understand why the great teams of the last four years aren't putting more butts in the seats at Huskie Stadium.

Really need to turn around the "local" support into part of the BASE of Season Tickets. I know SF with the help of Baker is trying. Still don't understand why DeKalb/Sycamore doesn't support as it should.....

I truly believe SF was the perfect fit for this position and to accomplish these goals. My fear is that if SF can't get it done...no one can.

Personally I think that many of the "local" folks are used to being able to walk up on gameday and get seats(in the past, many times discounted)..they wait and see if its gonna be a nice day then go. Once season ticket sales pick up I think that many will hop on and there will be a bit of a snowball effect. The key of course is to start that snowball rolling...

Exactly. Sean Frazier's biggest challenge is to change the mentality of fans, students, faculty and alums.
