I will say these results are slightly skewed away from Huntsville (how much I couldn't say) due to the way the businesses in Research Park work. When they grow to a certain size, they tend to form spinoff corporations in order to meet various funding qualifications.

Also, a lot of major Huntsville businesses are headquartered in other cities/states.

Companies headquartered in other states shouldn't count. There's a reason Walmart didn't make the list.

They (the state as a whole) show they understand what the B'ham metro area contributes by not actually killing it, but only hobbling it like you do a horse you want to keep moving, but only very slowly. The UA BOT acts toward UAB - particularly in athletics - the same way.

That was kinda my point.

This list has at least one flaw. BE & K is no longer. They were bought out by KBR. Makes me question other companies on the list

Also, private companies not on there from what I can recall.

At least, not all of them that would make the listing.

Having Protective Life and Protective Annuity listed as two different companies keeps it off the top of the list.

This information, at least the private companies, is inaccurate at best.
