better and deeper stuff on Joe's workout...

The Grizzlies have the No. 22 pick in the June 26 draft. Though Jackson isn’t projected to be selected in the draft’s two rounds, he’s convinced he has a future in the NBA.

“I’m gonna get in the NBA,” Jackson said, staring back at a reporter who asked him if he planned to go to the NBA D-League or overseas if he isn’t drafted next month.

“I don’t feel like I’m going nowhere out of the U.S. I’m gonna be in the NBA. I’m not gonna talk on my future like that, but I know where I want to go and I’m gonna work toward it.”

Maybe, but I don't know why you're using Mike Miller as your example though. He's 6'7, plays SG/SF, and is one of the best shooters in the league.

The difference between the shooting skills of a top 5 shooter in the league and the shooting skills of a competent NBA guard shouldn't be large. For 2014, there was an 11% separation between the #1 and the #100 3pt shooters in the NBA.

I think Joe needed to shoot considerably better than that for him to have a chance at getting drafted.

At least the scouts saw potential based on his mechanics, so hopefully a number of teams will keep tabs on him through the summer league and he'll be able to make some big strides with his game.

JJ needs variety to his game...

He is far too predictable and far too easy to guard. If JJ had a floater and could hit a Jumper on the move he could make the league.

LOL at disparaging Joe. Haters gonna hate. Robert Kirby was at the workout. He was told by Grizz that Joe was excellent in that particular shooting drill.

I'm not sure what everyone expected of Joe during his time here? I think he did a great job! Saying he can't make an NBA roster is crazy! Look at a guy like Indiana Pacers guard CJ Watson, 11 yrs in the league! I'll take Joe any day over CJ!

While I think Jackson is a long shot at best, Joerger did say that with the bigger spacing in the NBA Joe's game may actually be better designed for the pros than college.

RE: Joe's Workout with Grizz Today
Yup. JJ has much to offer--his freaky quickness, court vision and determination. Joerger also said JJ needs to let the game unfold and not have a per-determined plan--a very astute observation.

But every year around this time it's the same drama. Some of our Tigers' have worked for this ONE thing their whole freakin lives. Every year, we 'fans' get the same freakin choice---how to support our Tigers while they transition between college and the unknown.

But..heh....nothing's over on draft night. Young men who get drafted sometimes go nowhere, or they struggle; while those who don't get drafted are successful.

Put simply, it is not written yet what happens. That's why they call it the future.

With the future in mind... Go JJ. Go Geron. Go CC. Go Dix Jr.

What do you expect him to say?

I'm sorry that facts upset your obviously rich fantasy life but don't shoot the messenger. I thought we were all grownups here.

I think it's certain that he'll be much better offensively in the pro game *once he learns to shoot the 3 consistently*. Even more so once he develops an in-between game. But, conversely, playing defense becomes immensely more difficult too.

Not at this moment, but given his ball skills and speed he has the potential to be if he becomes an NBA-quality shooter. IMO, that's why the scouts spoke about his shooting mechanics. They think he's got a decent chance of getting his shot where it needs to be at some point.

RE: Joe's Workout with Grizz Today
Joe isn't physically or mentally tough enough and never has been. I was laughed at months ago by Transitt and others when I suggested the biggest separator between Russ Smith, Napier, and Kilpatrick was their overall mental toughness. Joe is sensitive and the game is just too hard now with all the exposure basketball players get via twitter etc. to be sensitive. Geron is the only Tiger I'd take a long hard look at.

I hope the Grizz take Napier. That guy just wins.

Out of my mind? I'm not saying he'll make a roster and be a superstar, but to say there's no chance is crazy! There's always a chance! You have guys sitting on a NBA bench for years that never see the floor, but they're "in the nba" so in my opinion there's a chance! My opinion! No need to talk crazy about being out of my damn mind! Dude I'm a grown man, chill with that.
