I wouldn't be surprised if we never see a game played with these divisions.

No, b/c the ACC (supported by the B12) has a request into the NCAA, which will likely be approved, that will allow "autonomy" for deciding conference champs, and thus eliminate the need for divisional breakdowns, or even 12 teams.

Assuming it will be passed, the AAC might forego divisions altogether. Of course, they could decide to keep them anyway, but they would have the option not to use them and still play a CCG.

I'm thinking they'll do away with the need for divisions for a championship game by then. Why have a 10-2 team from one division play a 7-5 team from the other for the conference championship when you have two 10-2 teams in the same division.

Aresco: "The East-West format we have adopted gives each division a distinct identity, provides long-term competitive balance and protects traditional rivalries while allowing each school to travel across the conference's geographical footprint on a regular basis."

"Unless the NCAA says we don't have to, at which time we'll scrap the whole plan."

At least, that's how I see it.

"Texas is our No. 1 state for players," Navy coach Ken Niumatalolo told the Advocate.com. "So we'd prefer to play at either Houston or SMU every year. No plan is perfect, and we'll be happy wherever they put us."

Navy is, in effect, NATIONAL. I love the division we are in. Except for Navy, which is tradition-rich, we have a history with the teams we will be playing.

Plus see page 1 of this thread --- the Navy coach wanted to be placed in the West in order to recruit Texas.

This is by no means a weak football conference. We've got teams and schools who can compete.

How will the 5-3 rotation be determined?

Logical assumption would seem to be we play 3 of the 6 in the other division one year and the other 3 the next. Therefore if we play East Carolina twice over 4 years, we only have to travel to their place once every 4 years. The other time we would play them should be here at the Liberty Bowl; right.

Correct. That is the way it has been explained in interviews. I don't know who decides the first 3 teams you play in the other division, and where to start, but once the first rotation is decided, then everything else just rotates in order every year.

Coach lied. It's actually Florida but Navy wanted to be in division with small private schools (Tulane, SMU, Tulsa) plus Memphis, as they see that Division much easier to win and be bowl eligible each year.
