Very nice!! This is what I love about the Belt every school has a bright future and will all likely be seeing stuff like this in their future. Unlike most other G5's and alot of lower tier P5's most Belt schools are far from growing and vastly improving in all areas on and off the field. Some of us are just on different paces but all moving forward. This is why within a decade if not sooner I honestly believe some of the defectors will be regretting their moves.

Oh this is going to be awesome! That end zone was kind of an eyesore for some time, very happy to hear that it's getting taken care of. Congrats Cajuns!

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Now instead of a natural buff for fans we have a concrete end zone. With the good comes the bad, loved the green, green end zones.

We are not even close to being finished. We will probably stop at matching upper decks bringing capacity to 48-52k. That is Phase II for football and we are in the process of securing funding right now. Last I heard we were almost halfway to the $45 million needed for the upper deck projects.

Finish both end zones, and matching upper decks on the side lines will be 55K plus.

We won't do all of that. It is not necessary. The other upper deck with suites will be the extent of football expansion IMO. The rest of the funds will go into baseball and ancillary stand alone projects.

We will do it, just not soon. We will have a new initiative after baseball is completed. The plans are for a stadium large enough to accommodate schools like Texas and Oklahoma. I wonder why?

Very impressive. I will miss the look of the grass though. Winning cures all. Looking good guys!

I'm not a fan of going to higher capacities. I want full stadiums...not empty seats.
25-30k is perfect....until the constant sellouts (all games over a season) warrant building more.

The money generated from long term leases of suites make the expansion worth it. We are growing/regaining our foothold in Acadiana and that will continue to happen as long as we keep having success.

People forget that we essentially had Louisiana Alumni build TAF and LSU. Dr Ray Authement actively pushed donors away from athletics for 35 years and sent the east. I sat in front of him for a football game after our first Nola Bowl victory and heard him say "That bowl game was the worst thing possible for this university." Those were his exact words. He hates athletics and feels that they take away from the academic side of the university.

What we have done in the last 5 years is just a small fraction of what can eventually happen here. We are in a region that is booming due to the oilfield. We have some extremely wealthy alumni who are just starting to give back to athletics and that is why you see the sudden growth and the explosion of facilities, not just for athletics. close to $750 million dollars of work will be completed within 5 years.

"If you build it they will come."

Capacity after Phase I South End Zone enclosure will be 36,904.

Capacity after Phase II of Cajun Field will be 45,241. The North End Zone will remain grass and will be bowled down the road if needed. Capacity THN would be 50,026.

Let's keep this an informative topic on the main board. I split the smack posts out to a new thread on the Smack Board.

Looking good, Cajuns! When one school makes these upgrades it usually trickles over to other league schools. We all make each other better. And for me, maybe these improvements at other schools forces USA's hand to break ground on their own on-campus stadium.

I agree, it is also rubbing off on other programs near us. La Tech had plans for an end zone facility for 3 years. All of a sudden Louisiana unveils the Master Plan for athletics and break ground on the end zone project and La Tech scales back their project and breaks ground 1.5 months later.

The mid major arms race in the south has begun. UNT started it off, then Houston, Tulane, Louisiana and La Tech. stAte isn't that far behind and Troy has a very nice new basketball arena and nice softball facility.

None of us can compete with aTm or the likes of those programs, but if we can improve the facilities and better the atmosphere on game day then we will continue to improve as a league.

Add TXST and FAU to that list. Even UTA on the basketball side.

Correct, the Cajun Dome will also be getting a $21 million dollar renovation starting this year and fully completed by 2016.

I'm pretty sure not. I includes a new west side UD with all the associated five or six level building/office space and the new upper deck press box areas with suites and club levels.
