Walk! Rare for Mourelle. Mound visit.

JP says Rice is 26-7 when scoring first ... which implies an 11-10 record when opponents score first.

Aquino lashes a liner through the 3rd baseman. RBI!

Skyler skies 2-1 pitch to left. Two out.
Connor Tekyl flies out on the first pitch ... to end the inning.

2-0, Rice ... heading to T4.

RE: Rice vs. FIU (Game 1/CUSA Tourney)
Kevin gives us a leadoff single, but FIU fails in their bunt attempt, and then grounds into inning-ending doubleplay.

Cook hit by pitch. Great AB, fouling off 3 - 4 pitches after falling behind 0-2. Runner on 1B, no outs.
Cook steals 2B on missed hit and run.
Hoelscher line shot single, but Cook held at 3B given how hard hit.
Runners on 1B and 3B, no outs. Gotta score at least one here. Put the ball in play with speedy Cook on 3B.
Reeves sac fly! 02-13-banana Well done. Runner on 1B, one out.
McDowell walks. Mourelle uncharacteristically falling behind most batters. Runners on 1B and 2B, one out.
Aquino RBI single down the line on 3-1 pitch! 02-13-banana Runners on 1B and 2B, on out.
Ewing flied out to LF. Runners on 1B and 2B, two outs.
Teykl first pitch fly out.
Would have like another, but well done.

Good guys take a 2-0 lead heading to the top of the fourth inning.

I have video, which is later than the audio, which is later than Gametracker. $16 seems reasonable for one month of Conference USA video including all the tournament games.

Mourelle is looking shaky. Hope he continues in that direction.

Base running fiasco for the other guys. They pulled a Tennessee.

McCanna gets 2 out with 3 pitches ... but Garcia works a 3-2 count and lofts a triple high off the LF wall, just out of Aquino's reach. But Garcia breakes for the plate on the next pitch, which gets away from Reeves ... but not that far away ... and Garcia is out in a rundown. Whew!!

Rice leads, 2-0, heading to B4.

Stainback slaps the first pitch to left-center and streaks into second for a double!

But three flyouts can bring him home.

2-0, Rice ... heading to T5.

One of the fun things about double elimination is that a team that gets down in the first game really has to think about how hard to fight. Do you go to your best relievers or try to conserve pitchers for the next (must win) game?

Kevin gives up a two-out triple to Garcia (off a leaping Aquino and top of the wall), but gets him in a run-down on the next pitch, which got a little away from Reeves. Bad baserunning mistake by Garcia. Thank you.

Stainback first pitch, leadoff, hustle double! Let's capitalize here.
Byrd pop foul. Ugh. Fails to move runner. Again, poor situational hitting.
Cook first pitch fly out. Geez.
Hoelscher flies out.
Yet another wasted opportunity. I truly question our .301 AVG with runners in scoring position. Don't believe it. We've already left 3 guys in scoring position with less than two outs.

Good guys lead 2-0 heading to the top of the fifth inning.

Well, that number is straight from stats.ncaa.org. So, I would imagine it is real.

edit: Following on GT, did Byrd try to bunt?

Mike, Don't know about everyone else, but I appreciate these updated pitch counts. Very important. If he can keep this pace, McCanna could go eight, maybe nine.

Interesting, I guess the OG had confidence in his guys there.

We had TWO hits with runners in scoring position the inning prior. The hard hit single that moved a runner from 2nd to 3rd (too hard hit to score per your play by play) and then a single that plated a run. The SF doesn't count as an at bat, so that didn't hurt our average with RISP, but gives us 2 RBI in that situation this game.

Probably because Byrd has been hot lately.
