Who 'Owns' each state wrt recruiting
From ACCSports.com:
Interesting: Syracuse and Ga Tech both have their home state dominated by another ACC team. - http://www.accsports.com/articles/recrui...-footprint
Thoughts?
(NOTE: PA goes to Pitt based on signing more players than Penn St. Not sure how long that will last, however)

2 things: why isn't Florida split between UF, FSU, and Miami? You might as well pencil in Penn St for PA.

ACC sports must not have been following recruiting as a whole or the past couple of seasons.

I will just say that Pitt does a much better job recruiting PA than one would think. In Rivals top 20 PA players the last three yaers, in 2014 it was Pitt: 2, PSU: 3; 2013: Pitt: 6, PSU: 2; 2012: Pitt 3, PSU: 2.
There's really not a big gap there at all, if anything Pitt is a little better. You could say it's split but PSU definitely does not dominate Pennsylvania over Pitt. Also, Pitt really dominated in the mid 2000's when Wannstedt came in. They would get at least 5-6 of the top 20 PA kids every year.

Eliminate all liberal arts.
Raise your requirements above NCAA minimums.
Raise your requirements again above ACC minimums.
Raise your requirements again to creative your own new higher minimum.
Grant virtually no exemptions.
Accept almost no transfer credits whatsoever so that JUCO's are not viable.
Suck at marketing.
Recruit only in your immediate area despite the above.
Run a recruiting skeleton crew for a half decade where you have several vacant staff positions.
Have an AD who came from Xavier and has no clue how to work media or handle a football program of any size.
And see where you come out on the other side.

I didn't know there was a separate East New York and West New York!

Cuse has struck out on several 4 and 5 star NY players recently. The staff prefers to mine for 3 star talent out of state.

Bingo. We're focusing on the Midwest, Georgia, and south Florida.

I doubt PSU's sanctions had any bearing on those numbers.

Miami is a good recruiting school, but they definitely aren't on par with FSU and UF.
That site used "Top 40 players in Florida" for the last 5 recruiting classes (per Rivals). UF had 44 (22%). FSU had 37 (18.5%). UM had 20 (10%).
AU, UGA, CU and UA all had ~8 (~4%) apiece. ND, USF, LSU, USC, UL and UTn all had 5 (2.5%) apiece.
So take that data as you wish.

Georgia is an ACC wasteland.
And why are MD, CT, NJ and DE included on the map?

When it comes to the top players, NC schools haven't been able to snag many from within its borders for a long time. Georgia, Tennessee and Clemson have been getting a lot of the four and five star kids. Maybe Carolina makes up for it by getting a lot of the two and three star players.

If you has even bothered to read my post you would have read that Pitt did just as good or better in the mid-2000's long before the scandal. Most of Pa's best kids sit in Pitt's backyard so they do much better than people think. PSU does better overall with recruiting but Pitt has been at the very least close to even in Pennsylvania, at least over the last ten years.

In New England, Boston College. Believe it or not, there are a few big-time prospects in New England. BC does not get all of them, but many of them. They rarely lose a recruiting battle to another New England school. BC's recruiting strength is in the Catholic high schools across the country.

RE: Who 'Owns' each state wrt recruiting
UK doesn't own anything Football related in this state. They are a complete joke! If not for a 50+ yard hail mary and a muffed punt in the 4th Quarter by Trent Guy, we would have won 9 out of the last 10 against them. If not for Krags, we would never lose to them.
They recruited good last year, but Stoops sucks at coaching. They won't win more than 4 games this year and the recruiting will start to fall off. Very short sided analysis by this ACC site!

Here's Scout's final recruiting rankings for Pitt as far back as they go...
2002 #25 Walt Harris
2003 #39 Walt Harris
2004 #47 Walt Harris
2005 #42 Coaching change->Dave Wannstedt (Dec 23, 2004)
2006 #11 Dave Wannstedt
2007 #8 Dave Wannstedt
2008 #24 Dave Wannstedt
2009 #31 Dave Wannstedt
2010 #17 Dave Wannstedt
2011 #48 Coaching change->M. Haywood (Dec 16, 2010)->T. Graham (Jan 10, 2011)
2012 #40 Coaching change->Paul Chryst (Dec 22, 2011)
2013 #22 Paul Chryst
2014 #42 Paul Chryst
4 of Wannstedt's five recruiting classes were in the top 25 (other #31), and he was assembling one of his best classes yet before he was fired in December 2010. The coaching transition disaster of Dec. 2010 destroyed that class.

Just yesterday Cuse got commitments from 2 OL from South Florida and 1 OL from the Chicago Area. Syracuse should grab 5 of the Top 10 kids each year in NY...they have not been doing that for awhile.
