One guy's take:
Quote: Recruiting Rundown- AAC: Part One nationally-ranked player mentioned
by Brian Flinn, Future150 (7:43 AM CT, Wed March 26, 2014)
Future150 Midwest Analyst. Covering Midwest high school basketball.
Nashville, TN (Future150) -- With the end of the College season rapidly approaching, players are beginning to declare for the NBA draft, as well as transfer. While schools have been evaluating, targeting, and recruiting the class of 2015 over the past few months already, now is when things really begin to take off in their recruiting cycle. Here at Future150, we are going to take a quick look on what each team is losing, who they are bringing in, and who they’ve targeted in the class of 2015. This week we start with the American Athletic Conference, which will be broken into two parts. Keep an eye out for the ACC breakdown next week.
Cincinnati
Who they lose: The Bearcats lose their top two players in SG Sean Kilpatrick and PF Justin Jackson, role player Titus Rubles and C David Nyarsuk also graduate this year as well.
Who they bring in: CF Gary Clark and PF/C Quadri Moore will both step in and have a chance to provide depth right away. Clark is a hard-nosed, yet undersized big man that could prove to be a matchup problem. Moore has the size to guard either post position but can also step out and hit shots from the perimeter as well. JuCo C Coreontae DeBerry will also step into the rotation next year.
Who they are targeting: Troy Caupain has had a solid season playing the point but the Bearcats have a need for another player capable of playing the point full-time. Jawun Evans and Corey Sanders both have received offers. Replacing Jackson with a player like Alex Owens or Chris Silva remains a possibility. Finally adding a wing who can bring a scoring punch will be a priority. Derrick Jones and Dwayne Bacon top the wish list, but guys such as Pierre Sarr, and Kyle Ahrens are potential targets as well....

Quote:Esa Ahmad to Visit Cincinnati; Several Schools Working Hard
April 2nd, 2014 9:12 am
Esa Ahmad, a 6-foot-8 power forward from Cleveland (Ohio) Shaker Heights who was named the Cleveland Plain Dealer Player of the Year, will visit Cincinnati beginning April 11, his father told SNY.tv.
“We know they have a good program and a great coach,” Ibby Ahmad, Esa’s father, told SNY.tv. “We want to get a feel for the college.”
Ranked No. 89 in the Class of 2015 by 247 Sports, Ahmad has already visited Ohio State, Xavier, Dayton, Clemson, Rutgers, Virginia Tech and Cleveland State and his father said he plans to visit West Virginia, Michigan and Michigan State.
Asked what schools were working the hardest, Ibby said Maryland, West Virginia, Clemson, Iowa State, Rutgers and Kansas State have been “pushing hard.”
“When you go to college, you have to make sure you are comfortable there,” Esa told the Plain-Dealder. “You have to make sure you can see yourself there for the next four years of your life. It’s important to make sure that the coaching staff is like your second family. That’s a big part of my decision.”
Ahmad led Shaker Heights in points (26.5), rebounds (11.5), assists (3.5), blocks (2) and steals (2) per game and was named Associated Press Division I Player of the Year statewide in Ohio.

RE: 2015 Basketball recruiting
Maybe if Lawrence has a good showing in the early part of the season, it may help land this kid. As noted previously, they are from the same HS.
Quote:Moustapha Diagne’s Recruitment Heating Up
April 28th, 2014 11:43 am
After playing this weekend at the Nike EYBL stop in Sacramento, recruiting is heating up for 2015 center Moustapha Diagne, a 6-foot-8, 230-pound prospect from Pope John XXIII in Sparta, N.J.
Syracuse, UConn, Memphis, Rutgers and Cincinnati are among those coming hard for Diagne, Pope John coach Jason Hasson told SNY.tv Monday.
Diagne visited Syracuse in February for the epic Duke game and “Syracuse is still very involved,” Hasson said.
Memphis is coming in hard,” he added. “Mainly I hear from Coach [Josh] Pastner but also Aki Collins. [UConn] coach Kevin Ollie called two weeks ago and may come and watch a workout.
“I hear from Rutgers all the time and ‘Tapha really likes coach [Eddie] Jordan. And coach [Darren] Savino and coach [Mick] Cronin [of Cincinnati] are still definitely recruiting him hard and they always do a good job.”
Diagne holds offers from Syracuse, Villanova, Memphis, Penn State, Rutgers. St. John’s, Cincinnati, UConn, Seton Hall, West Virginia, Temple, Cleveland State, Oregon State, Iona, Manhattan, La Salle and Rhode Island.

A verbal from Fresno SG Daryl Edwards:
Dowap @DweeezyEdwards: Committed to the University of Cincinnati
As pointed out on Bearcat Talk, even though he's been listed as a 2014 recruit, his Twitter bio says he's a 2015 commit, so he must be doing a year of prep.

Highlights - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8_3X1q3jqeA
I am not particularly impressed. Not very athletic at all. Has good range and a soft shot but it's plug ugly and slow. These were highlights and all I could think was how the dribbling would be easily stripped and the shots swatted at the high major level. But that's why I've coached zero college basketball game victories I guess.

I think the year of prep school could help. Remember 5 years ago, SK did the same thing. Not saying he is SK or will be SK. But SK was overlooked by almost everyone and after high school had to go prep too. He needed to work on his release and his handles(which he still needs some help in that area)
I think this could be a good signing.

Kid seems to have gotten mixed reviews. I said earlier on Bearcat Talk that his video reminds me of Michael Horton in both body type and playing style, which makes me very uneasy.
