MyBB Mike White "likely" staying at LaTech
After talks between Michael White and Tennessee ramped up over the weekend, it appears Louisiana Tech might be able to breathe a sigh of relief, according to a report by CBS Sports.

The report said White is likely to stay at Tech after talks cooled off between the 37-year-old coach and Tennessee athletic director Dave Hart.

Part of the issue is longterm stability, according to the report.

White, who has a 74-31 record over the last three years, just signed a six-year $3.6 million extension at Tech on April 3.

If White left for Tennessee, he would inherit a somewhat depleted roster after former Tennessee coach Cuonzo Martin bolted for California last week.

At Tech, the Bulldogs return four starters and a solid five-man recruiting class to a program that is coming off back-to-back regular season conference titles.

I love seeing TN get turned down...

Shaka Smart and Gregg Marshall laughed at them...now Mike White may have turned them down.

According to a rumor from the Tennessee Rivals correspondent, Tyndall already turned down a $1 million offer.

Isn't that number a little low for an SEC school?

Conference needs coaches to stay if it expects to improve. Will never go anywhere if they jump at the first offers.

Tyndall didn't turn down the Vols, he turned down the offer... and rightly so. I think he'll go but for more money. He's a great fit, and the Vols won't want to get rejected again.

White was Tulsa's first choice. I dont know if he was offered but Im assuming if he was it was more than a million.

Congrats to Tech on keeping a great coach. Says a lot about your program.

Tech/USM is going to develop into one of the better rivalries in CBB over the years.

listened to a little sports radio this afternoon here in Nashville, with interviews with utk beat reporters and some of the talk was that utk was trying to lowball White and the more he listened to the utk AD, the less he liked it.

Hope Tyndall stays away from that mess.

It is really risky for a young coach that has never made the NCAA tournament to turn down a job like Tennessee. If Louisiana Tech struggles, then this will look like a really bad career move.

So now they are offering more. I guess they tried to get him on the cheap earlier.

White is playing with house money and betting that another successful year at Tech will drive his price up even more. I think the reason Tenn. is having trouble finding coaches is because the lack of talent they have coming back next season

The same could be said for going to an UT program without anyone coming back, high expectations and a difficult fan base.
