IMO it was a mistake for him to come to Clemson. Syracuse or Pitt would've been better fits. For that matter, he can probably start at Va Tech!

He apparently was kicked out of high school once or twice as well, causing him to transfer. Guess he just has maturity issues, like many kids. Not sure why Pitt or Cuse would've been better fits, but eh.

He'd fit in great there. Acting like a child on the field is not only tolerated, it's applauded.

Kelly was probably going to transfer come August anyway when he was 2nd or 3rd string. Stoudt will be the starter because he has a better command of the offense and with the emergence of Wayne Gallman at RB we will not be dependent on the QB being the power back this year like we were with Boyd. All the reports prior to Deshaun Watson injuring his collarbone put him ahead of Kelly as well, so with Kelly's limited action last year we aren't giving up much with him as the backup, and Nick Schussler actually looked better running the Orange team than Kelly did Saturday.

We really aren't in a situation we haven't been in before. In 2011 Tajh Boyd was a RS Soph with less playing time than Stoudt has going in to this year. Stoudt was a 3 star true freshman backup, and the 3rd stringer was a limited skill-wise walkon RS Freshman in Donny McElveen. We are actually in a little better shape than 2011 since Stoudt has four full seasons in the system compared to Boyd only learning the system in the spring.

Once again Dabo shows that one player isn't bigger than the program. Proud to have a class act like him representing Clemson.

When Kelly was looking at FSU before Jameis committed. I said at the time I hoped we didn't get him.

I'm from Buffalo, and my high school played in the Monsignor Martin league that Kelly played his senior year in. I understand you have the skills or you don't, but I'm sorry, playing behind 200 pound linemen and evading DEs that go about 175 and run 5.5 is just poor preparation for the big time.

But that can obviously be overcome. The bigger problem is having absolutely no concept of the cultural difference of college football in the South in a place like FSU or Clemson. People in Buffalo just don't "get it". They do not get how damn important it is, and how damn good every kid on scholarship at those schools are. Now the transition can be done, but the chances of a kid with known maturity issues pulling off that type of leap are so thin. You can take a flyer on another position, but at QB, I wouldn't even consider a situation like Kelly.

He's the ideal transfer for Louisville or Auburn.

He was benched in the spring game too, correct? Idk about anyone else but this isnt the type of guy i want on my team. I applaud Dabo.

When a player is dismissed like that, can he transfer and play immediately (if that opportunity arises), or does he still have to go through a bunch of red tape?

He has to sit out a year for any 1A team...I think you might see him end up at a 1AA needing a QB...although he has a RS IIRC.

He redshirted in 2012.

And he loves taking potshots at our FB Coach too...despite the guy doing stuff like this. That's ok, we know the real HCSS...he is still stuck in his provincial den of hate railing against everything that doesn't happen within the South.

Paul Chryst has spent 2 seasons weeding this kind of player out. No chance he takes this kid.
