For craps and giggles remind me again how many engineering teams you have worked on? My last boss let it slip that my compensation rate was above the other engineers on my team and instantly my working environment went to hell.

I left for a new gig and I don't care if others are making more than me, or if I am making more than them.

I ask for what I think I am worth and I take the time to do research on the industry in my area. If it's out of whack I'll ask for more, should I be told no I will find another job.[/b]

i was always the history & english kinda guy. I did intern at my brothers office (he is an engineer) for a little while so i have slightly above jack sh!t experience in engineering (but I do know how to used solid works & a CNC machine). i have said many times that the pay gap is not as bad as it seems and the fact that men go for the (higher paying) engineering jobs far more often than women is one reason for the pay gap to appear different than what it truly is. however putting basic protections in place for the .01% who do not get fair pay is more than reasonable.

the two major "fixes" obama has gone after is
-changing statue of limitations
-changing the way wages are recorded & made available to other employees

now dumb*** dixie says that that is "too many protections" and would mess with the hiring process. personally I think anyone who believes that is an idiot because these are two things that have nothing to do with the actual pay rates.

The above is an example of how the modern unemployed are created.

and you are a fine example of why it will take us a couple of more decades to stamp out the racist, sexist, creationist, & bigots.

I'm in my 20s. You're an embarrassment to your family, and your generation.

hence the reason i said a couple of decades 03-banghead

anyways my generation looks at guys like you and thinks "motherfucka....we will always be stuck with these idiots"

In your brothers office did everyone know the salary of everyone else?

if you care deeply enough about this issue PM me and i can give you the details of the place I interned at.

It's a yes or no...

I made a statement that on a systems engineering team publishing salaries creates discord. You said that was "stupid"... Now the extent of your engineering experience is an intern job you owe to nepotism.

All I wish to know is did every engineer at the place know what the other engineers made?

This is exactly the sort of thing that could result in a chilling of hiring of women in certain businesses. Essentially, if a woman gets pissed off that she makes less you can face the Feds and a discrimination case. The end will be people will just think twice before hiring women, which is obviously a negative effect.

Haven't we already been through a myriad of reasons a woman may earn less, just like in the White House?

RE: Women make just as much as men
If you ever get a job John, which is unlikely, you'll realize that most people in a professional setting aren't paid identically and pay is the result of a lot of different factors. The end result of this crappy legislation is businesses getting sued just to have to turn around and explain why a woman may make less, her education, her hours, her productivity, and a mlion other things. It will only hurt women in the long run, that must be what you want.

hey dumb*** time & time again I have stated that the pay gap is inflated because of examples just like that. in fact the specific example you just mentioned is one that I agree with and have mentioned myself numerous times in the past.

now ask yourself....... would you really expect me to say "the demographics are all equal" in this thread when i have made numerous posts in a different thread with you today arguing that the demographics are not equal?

sorry but i reject your dumb*** position of "i am against anti-discrimination laws because they are effective" stance on things.

So I see transparency about the details of compensation for everyone but you cant say publicly if your brothers company lets all employees know what their co-workers make..

Guess its not that simple...

No... Because you complaining here about saying "Yes they all know" or "no they don't" shows what a sham your whole argument about transparency is..

I have asked for no identifying information about the company, your brother, or the salaries involved...

Guess its not that simple...

I already said plenty of times that i will answer it in PM. if you are too much of a whiny ***** to make a PM then stop complaining on here that I am not discussing it here.

No... Because you complaining here about saying "Yes they all know" or "no they don't" shows what a sham your whole argument about transparency is..

I have asked for no identifying information about the company, your brother, or the salaries involved...

how about a "some do & some don't" response? 05-stirthepot

"Internet Tough Guy"... I'm not sure you know what the hell that means. I have made no threat, no boast, and no claim of superiority. I am pointing out the hypocritical way in which you are acting. "What's good for thee is not good for me"...

I will send you a PM but I promise you that I will post the relevant information here, that is to say I will state whether or not the company you interned for lets all employees know what the others make.
