Thank you. I do too!

This is an opportunity for our conference to showcase our wares and a little pomp and circumstance is just an attention-getter, so it's time to get your wolves up, raise your Trojan Sword, etc. This is a BIG season for the SBC.

So geo south should unleash the gnat swarm?

Hey now, we aren't toothless, counted this morning and I still got 6

App State and a lot of schools have a quidditch team, believe it or not.
They just had a big tournament for quidditch.
Here is a recent Sun Belt thread talking a lot about quidditch and other "sports".

You really should look up some videos of the actual matches they play. Its quite hilarious...and its the reason its becoming popular.

Throw in that your students who are in college now, or are reaching college age in a couple of years are ones who were kids when the Harry Potter series first became popular, and you get a craze like this developing.

Benson has hired Justin Bieber and Kim Kardasian as our Belt spokes people in order to attract the non-informed the malformed and the plain ignorant.....plus ITT Tech and Phoenix University are now new Belt members.

My daughter came home one weekend wearing an AState Quidditch shirt, given her aversion to sports I was surprised and asked if she had joined the team. She rolled her eyes and said, "No. Just bought the shirt, running around like that is stupid."

Would probably laugh myself to death watching a match.
Cannot imagine, but if it makes people happy what the heck.

4 or 5 years ago I was reading one of the New York newspapers online and found a small feature about a National Quidditch Tournament that had just started, and how popular it was becoming.

Naturally curious, I found the Website for the tournament and watched a video of part of an actual game. It was incredibly stupid looking. Yet at the same time, it was incredibly funny. I remember that I emailed a link to a friend who was a Harry Potter fan and a student at ASU at the time, and she immediately wanted to start one.

I don't think she succeeded, but I am still going to claim the ASU Quidditch team owes its existence to me...because I can.

Its really quite amazing how its grown when you think about it. This year's "World Cup" features 80 teams from the US, Canada, and Australia organized either out of a community or club. (App is in the field)

They are now to the point they are charging people to actually watch such a tournament, and still drawing crowds.

Its really quite remarkable for something so silly looking

Wonder if it has television value. After all some of the most ridiculous things are on TV. Maybe a football halftime quid ditch mini-match would be entertaining. Or ridiculous looking.
