RE: Can't miss segment tonight on News Channel 3
Sitting at dinner last night I had this very discussion with my fiancé. Shes not from Memphis nor does she really get into sports other than just watching and yet even she understood OUR distain for cal. Our hatred if you will. I to will be a UL fan for a day. Never thought I would. I was brought up a tiger fan to hate Denny crum and the cardinals. And yet between the evils I pick the lesser.

Knowing your history on here and elsewhere, I find this to be a rather shocking confession.
My history?
Your post history on MTO and Roar.

truth. he had our backs when he was part of us. which is why it hurts when he left us.
The key words, "when he was part of us." When he felt the heat at his back, because of his recruiting misdeeds, he left us in the dirt like a red-haired stepchild. Yeah, he was really loyal. It's all about Caligula, all the time, everywhere.

When it suited his purpose, that purpose being self-advancement,
9 years makes him a pretty slow self advancer.
I think most, if they're being honest, would rather have Cal than Josh.
I cant wait to see the response.
Why? It's not like the guy is in Mensa. Most people have more self respect than to want the scumbag back.

whatever "national" appeal Memphis has is because Cal brought it...Memphis has NEVER had a run like those four years...and with the offense, defense, and Asst revolving door...never will again.
The program's motivation for getting to 2nd weekend, 3rd weekend is based on the fact that the coach went and played in National Championship...who cares...YOU DIDN'T PLAY YOU CHEER LIKE A MALE CHEERLEADER ON THE BENCH...LOL

So, besides saying JP is doing as well as anyone could "at that program", did Cal say anything else?

So, again just to clarify, you don't care what it takes to win a championship, as long as we win it, right?

So, let me clarify, Cal was doing everything right at Memphis until he decided to become UK's coach; and then we, the jilted, fell in line with the rest of his detractors. We take comfort in "knowing" we're now doing it the right way, because we really have no other option. I suppose it only reinforces the notion of "you can only win big at Memphis if you cheat." John is on a hell of a run over the past decade, and all we can do is speculate he is doing it illegally. Personally, I'd rather being doing the winning than the speculating.

Typical uninformed, not very smart post. Ask yourself these questions about Cal after UMass, NJ, Sixers, and Memphis...
- Did he do anything to damage them on the way out?
- Does he talk in positive or negative terms (or at all) about his time there?
Then people will have their answer. Not you of course since it will all fly over your head; but most others will.

He's loved at UMASS. Had he stayed at Memphis, he'd be loved here, too. I don't know how he's viewed in Philly because he was just an assistant coach. He failed in NJ.
