Wow, might have to go....

We came in from Las Vegas at EP Int'l Airport around 7:20 jumped in our car and made it to the game at around the 14 minute mark in the second half. Now, that's fandom. Wow, what a crowd. We've been to all three games now and I hope we're the ones that are bringing them luck, LOL.

We used to claim The Don had a capacity of 12,222. Most agree it was an estimate and not an exact capacity. We lost a few hundreds seats due to different renovations. I believe handicap seating was one of them. Even if every last seat was sold, I'm not sure if 12K is possible. Maybe some other Miner fans can chime in. For some reason, I'm leaning toward 12.1K being out capacity but 11.9K stands out as well.

It was an absolutely ELECTRIC atmosphere at the Don last night. Our fans were on fire from the opening tip-off to the final second. It really reminded me of the Miner games held at the County Coliseum back in the day. Now it's time to BEAT THE HUSKIES!

I think the capacity is officially 12,000.

Almost everyone was standing up throughout the game. Yes, we will beat the 8234 this Monday. I'm expecting around 11.5.

It was pretty fun! The good thing with this team doing well in the WNIT is that there were probably a few thousand that have never been to a basketball game much less a womens basketball game. It won't be their last I imagine. We have to get those type of fans hooked on Miner sports.

No, we've hosted UTK three (I think) times and it's been sold out for each. Surprisingly it was nearly all BLUE for those games. Our education days are generally just under 11k (recently was Kennesaw State, we destroyed them and there were 10.5k there). We've also hosted #1 Maryland w/just under 11k too (they had few fans there). That was a little while back but it was so, so exciting.

So in essence what we have here is Empty U. is the new Easy U. in our conference and Ol Blue is the new SJ.

Amazing, the more things change the more they stay the same. :(

WTF is wrong with some people on this board?! Gosh, you'd think that supporting your school deserves the death penalty from what some select few on here say. Since when is STATING WHAT HAS HAPPENED PREVIOUSLY, a bad thing?? You should not speak about things you know nothing about.

Amazing is right. Since when is it cool to call someone by another name and act like it's an insult? Much less, call MT "Empty U" like ECU "Easy U". I can see where the negativity from SJ comes from if you act like this all the time.

BACK ON TOPIC (sorry for feeding the troll) --

It is always wonderful to host post-season games. They will note the high support, and WNIT is especially good with rewarding high attendance with home games. Even though UTEP might not be the #1 seed / best team in the tourney, they are hosting b/c of fan support, which helps the team win games. Perhaps sometime in the future UTEP may get called up for an NCAA hosting schedule (women's of course, since the men don't really do that anymore -- as in host home games in NCAAs). Hopefully, MT would be on that list too, though it's obvious UTEP's high postseason support/success will be in the minds of the "higher ups" more than MT's regular season.

What wasn't mentioned by anyone is that UTEP played without their second leading scorer, Jenzel Nash. She was suspended by Coach Adams before the game. This was a really good win for UTEP against a tough team from a really good conference. Colorado had 6 wins against top 100 teams and on against top 50, Iowa. Colorado's only OOC loss was at Louisville by 7. Now UTEP plays a very tough Washington team that has wins over Stanford and California. I fully expect a sellout for the game on Monday night.

Apparently you haven't been on this board very long as this is your first year in cusa. So you really don't know that much about SJ. If you had you'd know like us that your posts resembled SJ's posts to a tee. No one (which includes you I might add) likes to have their programs accomplishments minimized as that is what you were doing. And I'll add a question to the rest of the cusa members:

Since when is anything I said minimizing your program? I've said multiple times how awesome it is that UTEP is having large crowds for their ladies' basketball team, and I am proud of them for their post-season success. You act like I am your mortal enemy because of some twisted view that you have.

I was asked a question about our attendance records and I answered it. I challenged you guys (in jest) to see if you can't break our record of just under 12k, because I want to see more schools be successful. You would rather I just say, "Your success doesn't matter. You don't have any history. Talk to me later, when you do." because I'm not saying stuff like that, though some on here will do that.

Please explain yourself on how I am "minimizing" your program's accomplishments, keeping in mind the context of my posts.

What you're doing in essence is you're comparing phalluses to see who has the longest one. Sort of like a little kid telling the other, "my daddy can beat your daddy". Grow up, and don't try to compare programs as you'll lose.
