Joe Jackson spoke candidly about immense pressure and scrutiny he faced at Memphis. Said he enjoyed about 60 percent of his college career

He played like it too. He never really looked happy. Some on the board will no doubt argue that he was held down by Pastner; but what probably would have happened is that if he would have had a Tarik "lite" experience elsewhere.

You should say "I'm really not as stupid as my post make me look".

JJ and CC should have followed Tarik and played for a real coach. Just look at how much Tarik improved this year.

I will say in 20 years what I say now, which is that I'm not and never have been a fan of his.

Decent outside shot, no mid range shot, no pull up, couldn't really finish at the rim against quality teams. Other than that, your correct.

That is just sad. The whole "King of Memphis" thing really set him up for this. I don't know if that name was his doing or his handlers, but it was a terrible thing for him. You have to admire him for staying the course.

The lesson here is: don't buy OR sell the hype!

I would never post this if he didn't bring it on himself.

Joe is 5'9 and listed at 6'0

I stood next to JJ in his senior year in HS and I said to myself and my other AAU coaches that he was just so small and short.

He is wonderful playing against smaller guards and the Little Sisters of the Poor.

JJ is not an Elite Elite player. He's very good but not "Lead my Team to the Sweet 16 good"

Chris Garner is about 5'10.

I don't know for sure, but wasn't Andre Turner about that height too?

Joe thought of himself as a one-and-done type player out of HS. I distinctly remember him saying he would probably be at Memphis 1 or 2 years.

He also thought he could "score whenever he wanted".

No, I'm sure you really enjoyed posting that. Pat yourself on the back.

And just how, pray tell, did Joe Jackson bring his height on himself?

Carry on with your troll-fest.

Maybe he'll enjoy 61% of his time playing for the Bosnia Dragons next year.
He can miss dunks, get junk points off shooting free throws (33% of career points), shoot 23% from three, and try to walk out on his team a couple of times.

Thank God this era is over.

What Joe accomplished here was awesome! His basketball career may not have turned out the way any of us wanted it to, but what he accomplished most of us posting on this message board will never be able to comprehend. True he set himself up for some disappointments, but why crucify him for that. Anyone that has read any of the articles written about him understands that the pressure he feels to be successful is tremendous, and I am willing to bet many of us never want to face that type of reality. Way to go Joe, and don't let the game of basketball be the barometer of your success as a person.

He was a kid. I'm sure none of us ever did/said boneheaded things when we were teenagers. And we were never under even close to that kind of pressure.

I wonder if Joe can amend his tattoo from "King of Memphis" to "King of CUSA"

If Memphis continues to make tourneys and continue progression in the NCAA tourney, then people will look back and point out his (Joe's) commitment as the starting point for the renewal in Memphis bball post-Cal.

Made it cool again for Memphis kids to come to Memphis that continued with Adonis, Nick King (gonna be a great Tiger) Austin and (hopefully) the Lawson's.
