Thoughts on him as a possible coach for Memphis if our situation were to change?

I'm not sure he wants to be an assistant again.

RE: Tommy Amaker
I think Amaker is a fine coach and happy at Harvard. If Pastner were no longer the coach, Amaker would be a viable option, but I don't think at the top of the list for either us or him.

I'd give Ben Howland a call.

Me too, to tell him we are not interested and would like him not to lobby for the job in the press.

Winning counts, but so do aesthetics. I'm not a fan of how Howland runs his offense...

Amaker's wife works at Harvard. Don't think he is going anywhere.

He's head and shoulders the most accomplished coach available and a monster recruiter and talent evaluator. He would bring in top national talent. I too wasn't a fan of his offense most seasons; however, I remember he did adapt to his team in the 07-08 season with Kevin Love; he let them run.

Howland seems like a good fit for BC.

I think Howland is a fine coach and a proven winner. I just really don't like the fit. That's not a diss on Howland, who is, as you correctly say, a big winner.

I'm shocked he hasn't been hired recently...

RE: Tommy Amaker
I'm a big Pastner fan. He's one of the best coaches of his generation and will have a spectacular coaching career; I hope it's with the Tigers. I hope he beats UVA and entrenches himself with us. However, if we run him off with our cynical fan base due to not being Final Four good yet, I don't see how we couldn't give Howland a look. This city embraces the Grizzlies blue collar grinding style and that's Howland's brand of basketball. Howland isn't the only candidate I'd want but he brings the best resume and we'd definitely have a shot at him.

GP said he wanted the Marquette job and had made it known.

He's also been mentioned for the Wake Forest job.

He seems to be a better fit at Harvard than he was at Seton Hall or Michigan. He was more of a NIT type at his first two stops.

My God, what a disaster that would be. Jeez, I'd rather have a root canal, and I've had one of those. It hurts, but not as much as having Ben Howland as your coach.

So did Rich Rod.

Not all jobs are good fits.
