That's a brilliant point. I hadn't considered the affiliates left with a hole on Saturday morning.

We're free to sign a secondary deal with whoever we want, as long as ESPN retains first tier rights, and that network agrees to not broadcast an SBC game opposite an ESPN SBC game.

Locally, all SBC teams are still completely free to sign their games over to a TV network of their choosing as well provided those games be made available to ESPN3 nationally.

The deal can not broadcast games to a national audience ... what station you got?

Any Fox Sports Regional Station. Any Station that was previously televising the 11am SEC games.

RE: CSS Sports closing on June 1st
Sooner or later some of these folks need to figure out that they need to PROMOTE something other than the P5.

Our games are pretty much treated as filler. Not much promotion or marketing of our programs or those games. They use their promos in those games to promote future P5 games instead of future G5 games. On their sports shows they may or may not show scores, but do no real reporting on G5 and no insider stuff on G5.

The argument is that nobody pays attention to G5. But nobody pays attention to ANYTHING without marketing, promotion, and advertising. Some of these networks need to BUILD a market for that product.

No loss here...CSS was only 5 million subscribers, Flames Network is 50 million strong.... Just saying

In all seriousness, SBC still has CST in New Orleans surrounding area? This doesnt effect that I think. I also agree with ArkSt fan. Go after your own regional package of OTA affiliates like ACC/Raycom Sports does. Those are better than CSS. OTA has a lot of inventory to fill and those consumers are used to watching football on Saturdays.

Nope. Fox Regional is out, can be got nationally. That's why WKU's basketball broadcasts changed a couple years ago

RE: CSS Sports closing on June 1st
Seems to be a good thing.
Opens up the possibilities. Not like we were making a ton of money. Some
schools may be able to actually make some money and/or get more local
or specific exposure by this. Or SBC may have an opportunity to see how
well they have done and what they might get later on for their primary.
win/win

The CW station in Austin picked up 2/3 of or games last year; caught some of the basketball games and maybe we'll get some baseball on there this Spring.

Is the CW nationwide? Maybe we can swing a deal with them; or at least regional ones?

Incorrect. Fox blacks out games all the time. I've had MAC games blacked out on satellite and old Big East.

Same here; as a Dish customer, I hated whenever games were put on CSS because not only do I not get the channel but they were blacked out on ESPN3.

Different argument.

You were acting like it was a legal impossibility.

It is improbable, but doesn't have anything to do with our contract restrictions.

Yes it is, that's the reason WKU's basketball games were pulled from the Fox networks when the new deal was signed

Wrong.

You can go out of market on highest tier packages but if you are on lower tier, you have to black them out. Fox College didn't/wouldn't comply.

How is that even an option? What the heck was the point in adding Georgia State?
