Hey, WKU Welcome to your New Conference
Are you jumping from the frying pan to the fire. I believe I have heard these same reasons for your current conference.

Southern Miss got embarrassed yesterday in their tourney by getting stomped by LaTech so some of their fans blame the league, refs, etc. Sounds very familiar. I do feel for Southern Miss tho because I think they deserved an invite out of CUSA above several others before them. reminds me of when USA and WKU were left behind when the SBC was raided in the early 90's and we were left with having to merge with American South, or whatever it was called. Many of our fans reacted the same way.

Reflective of America. Haves and have-nots.

But the response is to screw your neighbor to get part of what somebody else built rather than cooperate and build something of your own.

The G5 conferences are a scattered mess that make no logical sense. Because they do not treat G5 as a cooperative endeavor.

I see that as more and more fans are becoming upset with the current G5 conference line ups. It's just a ticking time bomb before these conferences are blown up and redrawn that make more sense for everyone involved, especially the fans since we are the ones that are ultimately paying the bills.

C-USA, SBC and the NBE all need to be redesigned. The MAC and MW are about as good as they can be right now.

The G5 want to play screw your neighbor when there is more money to be made by leveraging the entire TV package of all five into a single deal and then distributing money based on appearances but the reality is AAC would rather take less and maintain a bigger leader over the rest than get more an scratch away at the gap between them and the P5.

Same goes for bowl games.

Doesn't matter what the line-ups are, align however you like but it is stupid to not maximize TV and bowl opportunities and revenue by cooperating.

Good riddance to the F_U's, but WKU, MTSU, and NT staying in the Belt (minus Idaho and NMS) would have the SBC competing with the MW for the #2 G5 conference and challenging the AAC down the road. C-USA is a dumpster fire.

Southern Miss and La Tech would be good additions to the Belt. Would love to see the La Tech-UL-L hate flourish.

The SBC was on the verge of finally breaking out. Then we all could have been proud of our accomplishment and what we built.

Now those who left are seen as responsible for "watering down" CUSA and those who stayed are seen as being in a "watered down" conference. And we all have to start over re-building where we are. Wherever you go....there you are.

Tech @ UL 2nd week of the season....you will get to see it flourish first hand....especially after we hand them their rump on a platter

C-USA is a 1 bid basketball league and SBC is a 2 bowl football league, seems to me were both getting screwed.

I don't care what anyone says... If WKU is happy with their move, then I am happy for them. Sad to see them go, as I'd like to play them again, but it can still happen. If we never play them again it won't be the end of the world.

Folks (not pointing fingers, as it happens from both conferences) seem too busy trying to tear down others to look better, rather than making themselves look better by being NOTICEABLY better.

Southern Miss fans are acting the way WKU would be if we did not go to CUSA and were stuck in this basketball conf. next season.....Though some Southern Miss fans are contempt and like the potential the conf. has...

I think you mean content. If not, the contempt USM fans have is the OP's point.

The AAC is a major basketball league with top notch coverage from ESPN. In truth, I do not seem them dividing what they have with any other conference. 5 teams n the dance make them a very good place for basketball.

The AAC will look dramatically different next year and if the Big XII grabs Cinn the league will take a big basketball prestige hit.

The AAC in basketball is pretty much Cincy, Memphis, and UConn. Maybe SMU depending how they develop. Its a very top heavy league.
ECU, Tulane, USF, UCF...those aren't exactly quality basketball programs.

RE: Hey, WKU Welcome to your New Conference
Is there anyone else in the G5 that comes even remotely close to what the AAC offers though? Definitely not. As far as basketball goes, top heavy or not that's not even a comparison. Plus, just joining a league like that gives you access to a totally different set of recruits. With the Florida schools that have football, i'm pretty sure they couldn't care less about basketball anyways. Florida is the only decent bball school down there and that's only after Donovan got there. Even if they did lose Cinci, they'd still be the best G5 bball league by far.

First, ECU really offers the AAC nothing in BB. Second, losing Louisville is of course a huge hit, they are the best program n the AAC. Losing Rutgers however, is not a big deal. The league should still be a 4-5bid team. Temple had a rebuilding year this year but should be back strong next year. The point of my post ,however, was to say that with the schools assembled and the very good ESPN coverage deal, I don't think that Aresco would be interested in any type of partnership with the other G 5 conferences. This is not a knock on the Sun Belt, as I happen to like many of the teams in this league. It is just the reality of the landscape right now. I happen to believe that the Sn Belt is even with Conf USA right now. I reallly do not see Conf USA maintaining their tv deal going forward, which imo, would eventually give the Sun Belt the upper hand.
