OT - CAA Tourney in Baltimore
Watching UD-Hofstra on CSN.
If there are 100 people in attendance I would be surprised.

Feinstein did color for game one. I'd much rather take BT.

If a three falls and nobody's there to hear it, does it make a sound?

RE: OT - CAA Tourney in Baltimore
Went to the WM vs TU game. Announced attendance for the semi final session was 4050. Probably 3000 of that was for the game I was at. The arena is OK. Not round, so there are no low level end zone seats except student section. There were some decent places to walk to, and more hotel and entertainment options in the area. The CAA seemed to give up trying to make it fun. They had the one beer area, But other than that, nothing. No inflatables, no bands, no cheerleaders outside, not much fanfare in the area at all. Guess they figured Baltimore itself was enough. The arena is definitely cleaner than the RC. The seats are nicer, but the amenities are sorely lacking. The whole thing was just less spirited. Calling it dull would not be out of the question.

I enjoyed the TU-WM game on TV, and hope for WM to keep the CAA champion in Virginia.
On TV it looked fairly full, and having Towson in close proximity could not have hurt. Still not the Sunday semis of old, but was a decently attended and well-played game.

Tribe will win. Teams from outside Virginia simply don't win the CAA Tournament.
On a side note... even without ODU, VCU, and GMU, they would have better off keeping that tournament in RVA. They couldn't have asked for a better semifinal setup to include 2 schools from within an hour of Baltimore (Towson and Delaware) and the lower bowl was maybe 25% full and the upper bowl completely empty. How pathetic.

It would be just as dead in Richmond with no VCU, Mason or Monarchs fans.
Wonder what will the CUSA attendance look like when El Paso is not playing? Probably very similar.

Nah, disagree, more people would have showed up in Richmond. Even if attendance was equal, it would have been a whole lot cheaper to keep it there.
1. They already have sponsors in Richmond they can call on instead of likely cold calling Baltimore businesses that have probably never even heard of the CAA. I can't imaging that was very successful.
2. When in Richmond, they don't have to shell out for travel, hotel, and perdiem for the CAA headquarter contingent.
3. I can't imagine what they are paying that place for rent, staff labor, etc.

I would have went yesterday, and with Delaware playing, tonight. (former VCU star Chris Cheeks is one of their assistants) I used to go before VCU was in the CAA, when our schedule did not conflict. Was always some great basketball.
This cost them big. They had to pay for everything in Baltimore. They got a lot free here. Like the guy who does the network set-up. He is a VCU fan and did it for free here in Richmond. All he asked for were a few free tickets and VIP passes. They called him to go up to Baltimore to do it and he is charging them. That is six nights in a Hotel, meals, and his fee. He has to be there all day for all the games. $$$$$$$$
The CAA was some of the best times of the year in the past. Just too much fun.
They should have kept it here.

Who is doing the PA? I used to actually like the guy in Richmond. I think he also dos the VCU home gams. Good, professional voice and delivery. Wish we had him.
