RE: ***The OFFICIAL '13-'14 CUSA men's basketball tournament thread***
When you break the ties, once a team has come out on top, then you remove them from the list.
FAU was 9, and Tulsa was 10-seed. So you remove those two from the list and compare NT,FIU, and Rice head-to-head.
North Texas was 2-0 in that group, while Rice was 1-1.

I don't think that's accurate. From the rule book:
"After the top or bottom teams in a mini-conference are determined, the remaining teams are ranked by their record in the original mini-conference."
But, whatever. I'm not losing too much sleep over 11 and 12 seeds.

Yeah, I'm wasn't sure.
But I calculated the tiebreakers that way last night, and ended up matching what was on the C-USA official site. That's how it was always done in the Sun Belt, so I assumed most tie-breaking procedures are the same, across all conferences.

No biggie. I guess we'll find out tomorrow when the brackets are released.

Tulsa really got a huge break with this bracket. There really isn't any team with an easier path to the semi-finals. Middle Tennessee is the only real roadblock standing between them and the finals. LT, USM, and UTEP are all on the other side. And they get the "first game" of the day in each round, so every opponent they face will be playing on less-rest.

Look at the positive. Having the home team (UTEP) play 4 games should help with tournament attendance. Plus, UTEP fans have 4 more chances to see their team play.
w/o going further into the thread....they're tired....

I can guarantee you if Isaac Hamilton had chose to honor his National Letter of Intent instead of backing out UTEP wouldn't be in this position right now!
....the real bummer is losing 7 of 9 at home and your guys are tired.....hope we see you honestly now....please don't take offense....

I guess this will go down in history as the worst draw a championship team has ever gotten in a conference tournament for Southern Miss. Win a share of the title, and your first game is against a good home team. Typical for us

FIU isn't eligible for the tournament so they don't figure in any tie breakers

We just gotta win.
I mean I'd understand it if we were leaving the conference.

if it makes you feel better (figure of speech b/c it won't make you feel better) but we are coming from a conf where the tourney was in Richmond, VA (i.e - mere blocks from VCU's campus) every year. ODU and VCU were almost always in the top 4 and their students had the first crack at tickets so even if we weren't playing them their students would flood the arena a root against us. it was awful. I hate them so much.

That was the women's bracket. Someone wanted it posted.
There are a couple of deleted messages from last evening, so I can see how it is confusing.

I would really like to see the tournament moved to a neutral site.

Mississippi Coast Coliseum was a great venue for two of the old Metro Tournaments (1990 and '94). Can't be there every year of course, because the attendance-advantage to USM is too great. But it could definitely be part of a rotation.
Biloxi, Atlanta (why not? easy to get there, tons of hotel rooms, lots to do, centrally located for the eastern schools) and a Texas-location could be the 3-year cycle…
