RE: What's Up With Joe?
Joe has always been average when he can't dominate the ball. He has struggle with affecting other aspects of game and leading the team

1. enthusiasm
2. distributor
3. pace setter
4. coach on the floor

JJ disposition and body language is what has not endeared him to many fans...I think he plays hard but obvious he doesn't celebrate teammates well...I think lack of energy and enthusiasm should be apart of game preparations....Focused but happy and determined.

Hopefully he starts to play better, but he's not hurt.

How Do YOU Know?

Please give a basis for your unequivocal statement other than just leaving us to think because you said it .... It must be true.

Some people just do not show emotions like others. It's rare to even see him smile, that's just how he is.

So according to 'some' of our fans, our best player and the guy who has won a TON of games for Memphis in his four years here......sucks.

Please don't spin it and claim that isn't you are saying.

There is a group on here who has had a problem with Joe and with Pastner since they didn't deliver an elite eight Joe's freshman year. It hasn't even been subtle. Neither Joe nor Pastner can ever do enough to please some on here.

22-7, completed season sweep of Louisville despite Shaq and Joe going a combined 2-18 from the field. For whatever reason, JJ has been down production wise against Houston and Louisville. I think it is residual pain from the hip flexor, though two individuals on this board insist he is perfectly fine healthwise.

Interesting how this drama continues after a huge top 10 win for MEMPHIS.

On to Cincinnati.

The only thing I see with Joe is he doesn't have confidence in his shot in the last couple of games. He's just a little gun shy which happens to a lot of players. It's even translated over to his FT shooting where he was supreme a few games ago. After a few good buckets a revived Joe will emerge. Mark it down. I'd still take him, along with Dixon, at the foul line over anyone anywhere.

Transitt-with all due respect, not everyone [or even many] is saying what you describe in your over reactive, defensive manner. I have tried to address that with you in other threads, but you persist with the attack dog approach to anyone who dares to ask what's up.

This is not the Joe that we all know after his wonderful career. Many Tiger FANS are simply and sincerely interested in what may be wrong with one of our most dependable and outstanding players.

Just don't see how it is such a terrible thing to be concerned as we enter March Madness. This is what we thrive on and patiently wait for season after season.

Some declare he is hurt; some declare he is not. Some think he is jealous of not being the star or leader.

But none provide any current reliable evidence for either case. Most just want to know what the heck is going on; and don't need to be attacked for simply asking.

No need to pounce indiscriminately on fellow fans for what you may perceive as a career long bias by a few sore heads against Joe or Josh or the Tigers or whom ever.

Calm down Francis. This is Tiger basketball, and most of us are genuinely concerned about one of our most vital players.

If it is none of our dang business, then so be it; but concern and curiosity should be allowable emotions by fans. After all, we do have a vested interest.

RE: What's Up With Joe?
If I am in 'attack dog' mode it's because I am sick and damned tired of the CONSTANT negativity. IT IS NOW CONSTANT. It isn't a few (unless they are posting constantly).

We beat the #7 team in the country (and our biggest rival) yesterday. Some of the posts I read.

"Joe doesn't deserve to wear the blue and gray"
"Dixon saved Pastner's ass"
"Pastner made a bunch of dumb mistakes which nearly cost us the game"
"Joe was pouting and his body language sucked"
"Louisville may have been ranked 7th but they aren't the 7th best team in the country"

We cannot even celebrate a HUGE (and this was HUGE) win without enduring a barrage of negative posts. People cannot even look at Joe's body of work for the entire season (especially Vs Dixon's). Joe has two bad games and suddenly he sucks and Dixon is the star of the team. Never mind that Joe has been a better player than Dixon ALL SEASON (that isn't a shot at Dixon, who is a great player. Joe is just better).

I am just damned sick of the constant negativity. The constant cries to hire Bruce Pearl. The fact that people act like we're CIT bound when we have been ranked all season and have multiple top 25 (top ten) wins.

Maybe you just need a board break, or a more narrow focus on your target zone. List their names when you decide to pounce.

Your outbursts are attacking everyone who is simply curious about one of our key players, regardless of fan hood.

When I list names I get pounced on by 'the usual suspects' (not you) just as hard. Why even bother now?

I'm not going to take a board break. There is a group where who has already run off enough long time posters. They aren't going to run me off.

Joe is going to be fine, or better than fine. I say he turns it around Thursday against Cincy or Senior Day against SMU. Just in time for the conference tournament. AND everyone here knows how well Joe plays in conference tournaments. Let's all be happy and cheer Joe on!!!

That's a look he has which you infer to be sulking.

Joe's facial expressions, Pastner's hair.

You know it's a successful season when people are now reduced to bitching about these things.

How about not using the f word? Kids read this board.

A break from the board may be a good idea for you. Or how about putting all those on ignore that upset you.

I don't know you but your posts are representative of a highly emotional and volatile person. This board may not be good for your well being.

No need to defend a damn thing to me.

Trying to be one of the board police constantly attacking those who don't share your particular views is not good for your blood pressure. IMHO

Like I said, I'm still in celebration mode regardless.

Lump me in your attack targets indiscriminately and you will draw return fire.

Well then, do what you gotta do. Just know that some fans don't appreciate being blanket targeted simply for being naturally concerned.

Noted...but please also note that nowhere did I say "If you are concerned then you suck as a fan". In fact, I though my post was pretty clear.

It's a ****** up backwards board where I now have to defend my posts DEFENDING THE PLAYERS AND COACHES while those who constantly post the "Joe sucks, Pastner sucks, etc" posts can do so ad libitum with no blowback from any but a few of us (and then we get pounced on).

How about not using the f word? Kids read this board.

A break from the board may be a good idea for you. Or how about putting all those on ignore that upset you.

I don't know you but your posts are representative of a highly emotional and volatile person. This board may not be good for your well being.

I've been here for 8 years and the board was fine. I am in no way a volatile person. Those who know me (and several on here do personally) would tell you that I'm one of the most laid back easy going people you'll ever meet.

That said, how about you take your DSM IV elsewhere. My mother is a psychologist. I'm good, well adjusted, and happy.

That said, I'm tired of the double standard where "Joe sucks" is ok but "I'm sick of people saying Joe sucks" is met with "Woah, you need a break from the board".
