Pellom did a dumb thing. Clear and simple. Then he bricked two foul shots seconds later. The refs were making the same calls all day long. Hard to argue with that.

Yep. Touch fouls on us, letting Lougyville body us to death on our offensive end. All game long.

I will say, they called the last 4 minutes fair. It's almost as if they wanted Lougyville to be "in the game" for a tight ending. If lougyville ran away with that 8 point lead they built, "then so be it."

But no call early in the second half when the same Louisville player collared Crawford into their bench....that's not right or consistent.

Can someone explain the lane violation and why the first FT point was removed???

Answered in another thread. It was only taken off on your TV screen because CBS thought that violation was on the first FT. Stupid, I know, but the final score officially (being reported by ESPN and other places) is 72-66. Not 71-66.

It wasn't embarrassing when we were getting screwed in the first half.

Like when they called 3 fouls on Louisville in one possession? Total screwjob. We shot 6 more fts than the opponent, and won, and you guys still want to ***** about refs. The refs aren't going to be perfect but overall the game was called evenly. We got some calls, they got some too.

Yeah, I felt like we got favoritism for the first 2 minutes of the game, then they swung the other way. But, let's face it. It is FUN to ***** about the refs!!!!! I especially like it at the Liberty Bowl.

Those REFS wanted us to lose but...
Ok, here's the deal. We did finally start getting calls.

But Louisville made a lot of progress against us in the early 2nd half by going over the back on rebounds, and hip checking on every screen to get guys more open. Finally ONE of these was called, out of maybe dozens committed.

I don't think any of that was intentionally bad officiating, and it was nothing like @uconn or LV last year.

But Louisville was so physical that the refs wouldn't call it all (typical Pitino), and they did get the advantage in no calls.

It's ok to say that, really it is.

We had a bit of an uphill climb and we prevailed.

I have good seats at the Forum and can generally see stuff that others might not see because of angle or distance . I only saw the Forum's replays, but everyone of them said the refs were correct in the call; except one. I believe it was Russ Smith's fourth foul which should have gone the other way with a push-off on Michael Dixon. As physical as the game was both ways, there were multiple "no calls" that I would have rung up. We would still be playing at 9:30 at night.

I thought the first half had some calls that did not go our way....particularly by the gray haired guy.

But I am sort of partial.

It looked like a wrestling hold that Van Treese had on Pellom.

It's always the 2nd player that gets the foul called on.

Silly thread

Louisville had more fouls called on them...we were in bonus from the 12th min and we only had 2 fouls called on us then. But at least we as fans are consistent...complain about refs win or lose.

Once the ball Is handed to the shooter on the free throw line a player cannot leave the lane. Johnson walked away after the ball was handed to the shooter. Violation, the first free throw was not taken away. Every jr high ref knows this rule. Now you do too.

I think you mean Smith's 3rd foul. 4th was a silly reach.

Just consider that those of us out of town watching on TV did not have the correct score, so when the lane violation occurred CBS was showing 69-66 and maintained the wrong score the rest of the game.

I think all watching on TV would have been a bit less tense if CBS had the correct score posted.

Pellom's call was ridiculous. Not only that, it was right in the midst of the Tigers run and it could have killed all momentum while the refs screwed around at the scorers table for about five minutes.

Giving Pitino a free five minute time out and a possible five point play is enough to make anyone sick.

Nah, that was the right call on Smith's 3rd foul. It was a stupid play by Smith, just like his 4th and 5th fouls were. Dixon was steaming down the court and for some inexplicable reason Smith just runs over next to him with no intent of actually guarding him. Dixon did a good job of stepping over, forcing contact, and then selling the foul. IMO it is no different then when JJ feels a defender running behind him and suddenly stops to pick up a cheap foul on the defender.
