There's not more than a few blocks from any point A on that campus to the stadium. I can't imagine any small kid overly troubled by that. We walked a mile four times a day to school from 5yrs on. How can a kid have a problem walking from the parking lots to that stadium?

If parking completely around a stadium is what people need, that's going to be an off-campus stadium.

My kids have been to more UT football and basketball games than some of the coaches.

Ok you must not have kids or forgot what it's like to have little ones who love going to Rocket Games? Next game you can try carrying my squirmy 30 lb. toddler for several blocks while he constantly tries to pull off his hat and mittens in -10 degree temps. Also add the PITA diaper bag you have to lug along. Oh I forgot to mention you'll also be keeping an eye on a 4 yr. old so he doesn't run into traffic in a snowy, slippery, packed, crazy parking lot. Usually the 4 yr. old has to pee and walks cross legged while bugging me about popcorn and wanting to carry the tickets. The whole time I'm debating whether he should have popcorn or not, because he ate a crappy dinner because we're rushing to get to the game. Then on the way out I'm kicking myself because we almost left the Buffalo game to get the kids home to bed and thank God Juice bailed us out. But most of the time we end up getting home too late after sitting in traffic for a half hour just leaving campus. I guess I could park at the Lucas County Rec Center like Terry mentioned and just walk, but then reverse all of the above. Love my Rockets. See you In Yipsi, I'm sure the walk will be much shorter and parking lots less full.

Hmmm, life changes when you have kids. Who knew?

Well consider this. In 50 years, they're going to have to deal with you trying to pull off your mittens and carry your diapers while pushing your chair to the Rocket games, so QYB.

Maybe there should be a shuttle. Might be worth a suggestion.

RE: The North/Bancroft Parking Garage
Oh, I forgot that was just getting to the front door, then I have to fireman carry the toddler up 47 flights of stairs to the ticket turnstile where I have to juggle the toddler and diaper bag while I dig the tickets out of my wallet. Lucky I didn't give them to the 4 yr. old earlier, because he would have lost them in a nano second. Then I have to have Geneva Convention like negotiations with the 4 yr. old to actually walk through the turnstile because it still spooks him. If we're lucky the Blue Crew is already inside, because the guys with the "crazy hair" still creep out the older kid. Since we're getting into the game just as the National Anthem is playing we have to stop and pay our respects. By now my arms are trembling, because I've hauled an extra 40 lbs of gear and two kids across campus. At least now I let the toddler rip off his hat in tribute to the flag, but have to squat thrust kid and bag after he tosses it 15 ft. away while giggling. Anthem over, almost in tears, I look at another 40 flights of stairs I have to negotiate to our Fan Plan seats. Upgrade our seats and parking you say? I won't bore you with the stories of the bodily fluids I have to sell to afford daycare and to eek out just enough to make our current rocket fund donation. I'll stop with the three more times I'll have to climb the stairs for necessary kid potty breaks, the afore mentioned popcorn and at half time to let the kids run off some energy. Somewhere there's a game in there.

Emonah complaining it's too far from ot to stadium and I state suggesting a shuttle to the University is "warning" worthy? Or was it my use of sarcasm to express my disagreement that distances from parking to stadium are extreme? Because if that was your problem, you're going to shut down your own posting, not to mention the board.

And of course, you could have pm'ed your concern but instead decided to go the message board bully route and post your "warning" on the board Mr. jambulance? 03-lmfao

What RULES did I violate? That I will respect and try to hold you to with your own posting and of all your buddies.

It's YOUR choice that you're making. What is the University supposed to do? Ban the Blue Crew? Move your cheap seats closer to the door? Hire you a babysitter?

Wow, I don't think I've ever seen such a densely worded complaint about being a parent. Are you really serious with this stuff or are you joking around?

RE: The North/Bancroft Parking Garage
Its all in good fun and I wouldn't change a thing. Just my creative way of showing that just simply walking from further away isn't the simple solution, other things simply impact just getting to the game. Just like people probably don't understsand how many hours it takes to get the jambulince on campus. I could park in old orchard and it wouldn't make the treck any easier. You would be hard to find a more didicated Rocket family at games. Plus we get to work on the 4yr olds number recognition by calling out numbers on the scoreboard or chuckle when he asked "was that Spoon" when he saw a regular student wearing a headband walking across cam.pus after the last game.

There was no offence taken by easyisbest's post, but tried to inject some humor into his reply that a few extra blocks shoulden't bother a kid. Not sure what the warning was for? Heck I also used to walk to school 5 miles, up hill, both ways. Its always a good day for a rocket game.

Appreciate it. I was beginning to doubt my sanity.

Kidding. Crazy people don't know they're insane.

Shuttle bus still seems to me a good idea. Dropping the kids off with another and parking the car isn't the worse situation but if crossing Westwood or walking that dark path from Dorr and Secor with little kids (old, handicapped...) is unavoidable, a shuttle would be nice.

True... my ex-wife suffers from paranoid schizophrenia. Pretty familiar with the symptoms.

Talked with a UT athletic official yesterday and they are both aware of the bad traffic flow after the OU game and are working with campus police to get (more) involved with directing exiting traffic in the (near) future.

As pointed out early in this thread, having lots of cars on campus for the games includes a lot of positives for the athletic program. With the great engineering college, I'm sure a good solution will be developed and implemented.

I thought there was a shuttle for people who park in lot 18? That's where they tell the handicapped to park and ride the shuttle to the game so the suite people can park closest to the game. Maybe they should take the suite holders to lot 18 and hire a Limo to take them over to the game. Emanoh you had me rolling off my chair in laughter. Parents have the best sense of humor. My kids make me take their kids to the game. Maybe you can get your parents to do it for you or if they are not around hire somebody who doesn't have kids they'll never know what you are doing. 03-lmfao

I think the complaints were about trying to get in and get parked before the game. After a game, well you're always going to have a backup after a game, pretty much anywhere. Best thing to do, like someone else commented, don't rush to the exit after the buzzer. Hang out for a little bit and listen to the interviews, etc. Then, when you head on out, the traffic will be less and you won't set in a long line just burning gas.

I'd grade the Campus Police a "D" after today's thrilling game. One person directing traffic at the intersection near the Bancroft garage, and not a soul directing at the light at the top of the hill at Bancroft.
Those two UT Athletic Officials that were aware of bad traffic flow are apparently suffering from a case of A.D.D.
This after the largest men's game attendance in recent memory.
Throw in the slippery conditions and folks walking from the game, geesh.04-bs

And they usually have no problem having multiple cops directing traffic (and stopping traffic on Douglas) out of the lot by Fetterman onto Douglas. I guess that's what happens when you're a big donor.

Guess in that case they're taking care of the donor class or as W called them "my base."
