I have watched every game available to me and I gotta say, what is the deal with the empty seats behind the Tigers bench, game after freakin' game??? You watch Duke, Michigan, Michigan State, and several others, it looks like there are fans actually passionate about the team, as they are jumping up and down behind the team's bench. Just my opinion, but all I see are bluehaired boosters who show up when they feel like it. Tigers fans love the team, but if you turn on a game in, say, Montana, you'd think no one cares..............

GO TIGERS!!!!

There's a group on here that will call any new poster a troll, alias, etc with Mimi being the leader of that group. I had to go through it, too. But nevertheless, welcome!

Thanks! Yeah, par for the course with message boards, I suppose. Probably didn't help that my first post was a dig at a section of the fans!! I should've known better than to jump in that way.

Ah, well......live and learn. :)

RE: Memphis Tigers Crowd
We sit near those seats and I believe that most of them belong to the University and are given to recruits and their guests. We've noticed for a long time that they mostly go unused.
I tried to buy two of those seats and was told that--No, they are used by the staff for recruits, guests and alumni etc. etc.
I said--but they are practically never occupied. Let me buy the seats to the games where you don't have a taker. (as I know folks that would love to have those seats)
And I was told. No.
The seats have been empty ever since.

What I thought was particularly aggravating was ...I made no demands of future rights or claim to the seats...just let me give you some money and buy those seats and they will be occupied by fans of the Tigers and they'll spend some money too when they get there.
When you have a special guest, no problem, great and welcome!
Let's get those seats occupied. But no. And there was even a "flippancy" about the "no".

It's a few hundred tickets in the upper corners of the terraces. But by all means let's be sure and have the usual MemphisTigers.org overreaction.

Wow, that's a surprise. It just looks bad when you're watching a huge game on the Tigers schedule and seats that close to the floor are unoccupied, especially when you hear the announcers and Josh talking so much about the passion of Memphis Tigers basketball fans. WE all know that's true, but from an outsiders' perspective, it probably has a huge air of indifference. Would love to see a change by which the crazies are front and center.

Who knows, maybe someone related to the owner who runs the female fashion shop Hoot+Louise or someone who knows someone who work at Hooters or maybe he or she is actually a new poster. Who knows.

Personally I think he's a hoot , you know gits and shiggles .

Yes, those are the worst seats in the house, and only at that price for a few games with low demand.

Yeah, they should have a lottery at the door for any of those seats which won't be used.

Probably the reason they wouldn't is so we don't end up with some of our crazier fans who want to go off on our own coach or players in those seats.

There is a solution to this issue waiting to be developed. And, IMHO, it needs to be addressed.

No, it's probably because some of us would actually stand up and yell and cheer for our players and wake up some of the regular residents of those seats.

Holler at me when you find a $5 ticket behind the Memphis bench 04-bow

Last year I was given, free, two seats courtside from a couple coming out of the garage to enter the Forum. I have been given seats in the lower bowl, too. More than half the time, if you are standing near the ticket office at game time, you will be offered extra tickets by fans.

I will text you the next time it happens. 04-bow

I live in upper Michigan; in fact, the hometown of Tom Izzo. My brother and Tom graduated high school together, so I've known him forever. I just happen to hate Michigan State! Always been a Michigan backer, until about 6-7 years ago, when I caught Tiger fever from having taken several trips to Memphis as an Elvis fan. My favorite all-time Tiger win is probably the dismantling the Tigers gave Sparty in the NCAA with D. Rose's bunch. NO ONE in this town believed the Tigers would beat State, because they had no clue as to the talent level they were about to see. It was a very satisfying day at the office the Monday following that game.

Anyway, I didn't mean to come off sounding negative/critical on my first post. As I said, I have watched about 90% of the Tigers games over the past several years. My wife, boys and I know when they play, and make a date with the television to watch. I just know that ever getting to a game in person will take an act of Congress, so seeing empty seats so visible on television is a bit disheartening to a guy who'd LOVE to sit there just one time.

Seriously....GO TIGERS!!!!! :)

I apologize most sincerely for calling you a troll. Please forgive me because this place is infested with them.
Do not let a ticket to the lower bowl stop you from coming to see a game. You can buy them all day long from the street venders for $40 and up, and you have a decent chance of a fan just giving you a couple.
