There's no libertarian spin. There's actually no liberal or conservative spin either.

If anything it shows objectivist leanings in that it focuses on the darker side of "self interest". Everyone in Washington is out for themselves.

I won't agree with you about your suggestion that the story has objectivist leanings. I don't think it does.

I do think the story is classic public choice economic theory and, particular, the challenges as understood by the works of James Buchanan and Gordon Tullock.

The "rules of the game" are what created the characters in this system. This is a story about "how to create power" and not "creation of value".

I was referring more to the 3 main characters being very motivated personally by their own self interests and ambitions. All three are intently motivated by self interest and self worth while throwing up a facade of altruistic behavior. I could however be reading way too much in to this.

I think the characters you are referring to are endorsed by the State Science Institute. For them, it must be an honor.04-cheers

Spacey's statement in the second show where he talks about power vs income/wealth is classic.

Of course AMC, HBO, and Showtime have already been offering better quality TV, but will this streaming services make other cable channels really quake in their shoes a bit?

Netflix already has Lilyhammer (check it out), House of Cards, the new episodes of Arrested Development, a few other shows, and a pretty massive television library. Hulu has pretty good exclusives. Amazon is also commissioning a few programs with the Zombieland series being the first.

With the onset of smartTVs... The traditional media outlets now have direct competition with those on the internet. Netflix is making a calculated move to be the leader. With quality programming like this they will attract new subscribers. I see no downside in this for them. I only see growth. It would not surprise me to see this series get picked up by one of the smaller players on cable after it plays out on Netflixs.

Spacey is simply outstanding in this. I can not think of an actor that could pull his part off any better.

This aspect is very The Wire-esque. It doesn't go much deeper than what directly effects Frank (Spacey's Character) but everyone is in it to succeed in the system where they are. Frank is pissed about the president taking the piss about the Secretary of State position and he works the system to screw everyone over. Even though what he does seems very bad, he doesn't go outside of the system and mostly stays in the rules of the game.

It has 3 plot lines. Frank and his power grab on the Hill....The wife and her altruist front...and the reporter simply taking advantage and being used by both.

The wire is still the best.

2. Give me a white Democrat in the South with any power. They should have made him a Republican. That's the one part that bothers me. That part is not believable.

Steny Hoyer is the dem whip right now, but then again, few people consider Maryland southern.

. . . avoiding this thread for spoilers. I still can't get the thing to stream right. never had netflix issues before last night.

I swore that show off last season when they ****** over christine, the one decent character in the whole cast of characters. I felt manipulated. I even called it before it happened; they are going to make me like her just so they can infect her with rabies or something in the last episode.

bastards.
