Big SoCon game tonight...
Was a huge blowout. UTC had won 10 straight and was 8-0 in the SoCon, but Davidson throttled them by 43!

UTC lost to Kennesaw, that about sums up their ability.

If one game played back in November summed up a season, yeah, I guess it would.
Of course, the Mocs had a new coach, installing a completely different style of play and was missing a very important starter from the year before who was out after hip surgery.
Now that Rico White is back is back (and the rest of the team is healthy), they have won 11 of 12.
Chattanooga averaging out the whole season so far, the Mocs are an average at best team. But they have already won more games than last season and have continued to improve all year.

I still think Chattanooga and Mercer will be the favorites in the Socon next year. We have a shot to make some noise, with Wilson, Rembert, Merriweather and Riely all coming back but if we still have Bartow running the show then we'll probably just be a middle of the pack team.

Not sure if I agree about Mercer, they lose 7 Seniors, all 5 starters and 5 of their top 6 scorers, their top 4 rebounders Top 4 in assists.
Seems to me they will be in rebuilding mode next year.

If Chattanooga is the favorite next year, I have complete faith that Mercer will be a favorite as well. I just went back and scanned over UTC's schedule. It makes me wish Mercer was in the SoCon already. They got whooped by Northern Kentucky by 16. As mentioned, the loss to Kennesaw. They just took it on the chin to Davidson by 40+ points. Lastly, UTC's signature win is over Elon (RPI 161).
If that's the best the SoCon will throw at us next year, then bring it on!

Wow, didn't realize they've lost to both NKU and KSU, I should have looked at their schedule before saying that. ETSU has swept both teams this year.

ETSU should be in good shape next year to make a run.

RE: Big SoCon game tonight...
Remember Chattanooga is learning a whole new style of play, and will have had an entire year to train for it as well. The rest of the conference is bad, but its what we've always said about college basketball. Every conference has 2-3 good teams, 3 average teams and then the rest is garbage.

RE: Big SoCon game tonight...
From - http://blog.postandcourier.com/bulldog-b...peek-year/
Quote:Based on this season’s current NCAA RPI, here’s how the SoCon might shape up next season:
Team Coach Current RPI
Mercer Bob Hoffman 66
Wofford Mike Young 182
ETSU Murry Bartow 204
Chattanooga Will Wade 231
VMI Duggar Baucom 236
WCU Larry Hunter 238
Samford Bennie Seltzer 285
UNCG Wes Miller 312
Furman Niko Medved 331
The Citadel Chuck Driesell 347
So Mercer comes in as the top team in the new-look SoCon, with ETSU and VMI both in the upper division. Going strictly by this year’s NCAA RPI rankings, the additions and subtractions are a net-plus for the SoCon; next year’s version averages 243 on the current RPI (ranging from No. 66 to No. 347) compared with 263 for this year’s (led by No. 152 Davidson and No. 153 Elon). Of course, that doesn’t account for Davidson’s name recognition and tradition; the Wildcats will be missed.
