Disgusting.

Plus they're still fighting against the metric system.

The teachers - test makers can't spell litter. Nice indoctrination though.

The term “citizen” is intolerant, therefor not very courteous and polite.…
just ask the Seattle City Government.

RE: OH Third Grade civics homework
Soon after the Constitution was written, George Washington led troops into Western Pennsylvania to force farmers to pay a whiskey tax.

Paying taxes is an United States tradition.

Arguing about paying taxes is an American tradition too.

I was thinking the same thing. Are they not teaching about the Boston Tea Party in schools now?

I do think that if this is the case, it is further evidence of "teaching to the test" in terms of No Child Left Behind. If that is what is on the standardized test then a teacher has no choice but to teach to it to keep their job.

Exactly.

Yesterday we were in a staffing meeting and we were told that we must now give up a day each week of teaching history in order to allow the kids to practice for the state writing test.

History always take a back seat to every other subject.

Me too. But it adds to the absurdity of it all.

Can't be real? Teachers are at the top of the list expecting no one to disagree with them. They want compliance.

A kid disagreeing with his third grade teacher is not wise, but I took this sign as a requirement for good citizenship in general, not limited to the grade school classroom environment.

Which is a shame when *HISTORY PAPERS* can be used to reenforce little things like state writing test..

Of course they can. It has long been used in just that way. So fitbud is either a liar or a fool when it comes to this.

So what about the 47% who don't pay taxes, they're not citizens?

It is difficult for students to write about history when they don't have enough back ground.

In the state of Texas, there is no standardized test for history until the 8th grade.

This means that schools across the state do not emphasize history at all in elementary.

It's difficult for students to write meaningful essays about history when they have no foundation in it.

You don't need to convince me that public schools are failing.

But for the record, we don't have that problem w/ our kids.

Notice how the tea bagger with a type writer wouldn't label anything so we could fact check it. I sent the the website into Snopes. Maybe they can smack it down. Just pathetic
