I'm always skeptical of these ratings. But just accepting them at face value, that's very impressive work by WKU.

ODU has over 25 now and should get to 35. Not sure how rivals is failing to evaluate ODU's 2014 class properly.

The guy who made Rivals sold it to Yahoo and now runs/owns 24/7. Rivals is on life support that's for sure.

How are you guys oversigning? Only allowed 25 each class. We can with props. Are you all sending some to prep or JUCO?

NCAA allows transitioning teams to build from 63 to 85 scholarships. And 7 of our 25 committed are JUCO who enrolled last week and may count towards last year.

What's more impressive is that even with the loss of Petrino, by hiring Brohm we've been able to keep this list intact........of course, I'll wait until they arrive on campus to be truly excited.

It isn't a rivals issue. It is on the publisher/editor/head writer of your individual site to post them as they come in. Now maybe he hasn't been told of your commitments. Rivals has nothing to do with posted commitments.

That's right. Forgot about that. How is WKU signing 30 though? They aren't a transitioning team any longer.

Depends on the school. The players Rivals has listed for Charlotte is much more accurate than what 24/7 has because we have a dedicated person for Rivals.

Ah, makes sense. Evan, our guy on 24/7, seems to be very in tune with our school.

Exactly. Usually each Rivals site has a dedicated person that is a local newspaper guy or fan that has purchased the site. I have been following Rivals, ESPN, Scout, and 247 for the last 5 years and Rivals is always more accurate. The other sites just post on spoken word/rumor and hardly fact check. We have so many players claim offers that never had them and even tell their local papers they committed to us and sites **** Scout report it as fact. ESPN is usually pretty solid but they don't write stories for most G5 school's. With Rivals we get stories of each offer and interviews.

Yea we have a Rivals and a Scout guy but last I heard we didn't have a 247 guy.

I know these aren't final but to this point I am a little surprised at ECU's class.

Mostly b/c the 247 board has become a lot more popular than the Rivals board. Simply put, go to your school's most popular board and chances are pretty good they're going to have the highest ranking for your class. 07-coffee3 I'm not really concerned about our class at this point as long as we land a solid RB.

I am actually one of the 2 co-writers for WKU Rivals site. Although I still like to mingle on other message boards as a fan from time to time. Shhhh...keep that between us lol.

I have had interactions with Marshall's Rivals site several times. Chris is a good guy over there for you all. Rivals is just like any other network though. It is only as good as the people running the site.

Football recruiting is a joke compared to basketball, especially at this level. It's not hard to look at a 6-8 guy and know if he can play basketball or not, those are far easier to spot and spot far earlier, not to mention there are a lot fewer basketball players on teams or the court, and you have 30 high school games then AAU all summer to evaluate from the time they are 10 years old vs the other best of their age. Not 14 games, and 40 plays like football.

Football players are far less of a finished product at 17 too. Most, even the more elite ultimately have to be built in the weight room and it's hard to know the genetic potiental of people some who come in like CJ Wilson and put on 100lbs of mucle and go from a HS Saftey with no offers and grow into NFL D linemen.

Just look at our best players.

Carden, no D1 offers best offer was Harvard
Hardy, walk on
Cooper, no offers
I. Jones one offer to Ark St
D Johnson ??? can't even find his HS profile
Maggazu no D1 offers
T. Williams Kent State and Eastern Michigan

That's our best players, and in some cases some of the best players in the country at their positions and with NFL potiental.

Historically it's not all that different. What was Chris Johnson's offers, some sun best schools? Schools didn't even want Blake or Garrard as a QB's etc.

Popularity of site has nothing to do with how the recruits are rated. rhose kids are not evaluated by the individual sites.

RE: Overall Look at the 2014 CUSA Signing Classes According to Rivals.com
While UTEP's class is rated last in C-USA I think it's actually going to meet the needs of the team. Defense is top priority and we have 3 or 4 that will jump in to help immediately.

Odd things to me are that Rivals rates 1 recruit as a 3 star, other sites rate him a 2, and those other sites rate 3 additional players as 3 stars that are either 2 stars or unrated on Rivals. Very confusing but then this is not an exact science.

Our class is small in numbers so far so it will be interesting to see how many we sign. Reports in El Paso are that we will only sign 18 total. Rivals has us with 8, Scout says 7 and 247 shows 12. I have no idea what ESPN shows.
