Lunardi's bracketology this week
Was checking it out, Tigers a 6 seed. Seems fair.
KENTUCKY A 2 SEED???????

I'm sorry, what????? 13-4, only good win over Louisville. Played 3 total road games and 2 neutral games and have a whopping 1-4 record, with the win over Vanderbilt.

The first four letters of Lunardi's last name seem fitting.

Ridiculous to put Kentucky in that spot over San Diego State. They have wins AT KANSAS, Creighton, and only one loss to Arizona. I really don't think the committee would give UK a #2 seed over SDSU, but Kentucky being even close proved my point in yesterdays post about the 3-6 slots being wide open right now with so many teams in that range losing or not having enough quality wins.

Agreed seeding is BS but I could easily see us going to the final 4 with this bracket.

Rupps rafters were all in agreement with this as you can imagine. Even made the claim that they could get a 1 seed. It is comical that their best win is Louisville who they say is terrible and overrated this year.
We would have to improve tremendously in defense and 3pt shooting to have a chance to get to a final four. We are halfway thru the season which makes me think this is who we are.

I don't agree. As much as I've harped on JP for this season so far & for bad NCAA tourney wins, his teams usually heat up right about now. We just need a higher seed for better opportunity to advance. Calipari didn't start advancing until he got a 2 seed. JP will be complete as a coach if/when his teams play as well in November & December & march as they do in January & February.

We heat up because we were in CUSA. I would love for us to get to a final four but you can't shoot the ball as bad from the 3 as we do and expect to go that far. The 2 things we struggle with are vital for deep runs in the tournament. Hopefully, we can turn these things around before we get to March.

forget shooting threes.
In the game against UT #1vs #2...we shot threes like crap.
After that game...we reigned in on three point shooting...and started attacking the basket more. We became almost unstoppable after that.

True. We also had a 1st team All-American and the first pick in the NBA draft playing for us. All I'm saying is that we just need to shoot OK from the 3 and our chances go way up. That and a little transition defense would go a long way.

RE: Lunardi's bracketology this week
My prediction is that we'll run off 10 wins in a row -- South Florida through Houston. That'd leave the Tigers 24-4 with Louisville (home), Cincy (road) and SMU (home). Win two and we finish 26-5. IMO, that'd be a good 4 or 5 seed. However, because of the bracket, I'd prefer to be a six or seven seed or a two or three seed. I think a 2 or 3 seed is possible if we run the tables and finish 27-4. I don't think that's likely. So, I'm very happy with a six seed because we wouldn't face the No.1 seed until the Elite 8. (A lot of this is pie-in-the-sky dreaming, but that's one of the benefits of this board. We can dream and others agree or not.)

This is what I'm thinking as well. I don't think we lose again until one of those first 3 games in March (Louisville, @ Cincy, SMU...likely Louisville). If we finish 1 or 2 in conference (Louisville being the other top seed) we avoid them until the tourney final. If both teams only have 3-4 losses in conference, then meet for the conference final and have a close hard fought game, I think the winner gets a 2/3 seed, and the loser gets a 4.
Guess we will see. Still a long way to go.
The good thing about this year is starting in March we won't have a single EASY game. Louisville, @ Cincy, SMU are all top 50 RPI, followed immeditately by the conference tourney where we will play 2 to 3 more games against top 50 RPI teams if we make it to the conference finals.
We could finish the season anywhere from 10-5 to 7-6 against top 50 RPI in this scenario. No way that isn't "at least" a 4 seed.
