I was hoping we would go with Shaq, Austin, & Pellom after their 7 footer fouled out. We may have been beat even worse, but it would have been nice to see what would happen.

Why doesn't Pastner ever talk about winning a national title?????
Not 10 programs in the country could fill an 18,0000 stadium.
Does he think we are a stepping stone job????

They were 8-19 from 3 which is good...not phenomenal
We didn't defend the rim...too many layups and short jumpers. They were 24-37 on 2 pt shots
Combine 8-19 from 3 with 24-37 on 2 pt shots, and that's pretty phenomenal. IMO.
Layups, layups and short jumpers...easy shots. They were phenomenal from the 2 and good from the 3. They shot 42% from the 3 and we shot 41% (7/17). They just defended our layups and short shots better than we did. Lack of size did us in...their shortest SF was 6'6. Easy pickings against our guards.

Seriously. People filing into the Forum as the game was starting. Can you imagine that at other top schools? What a joke. Leave home an hour earlier, get something to eat, get to the freaking game, and get off your a$$es.
Some people work for a living,
Same crowd. Same story. Different night. Different time. Makes no difference.

At this point, Pastner needs to realize that these 4 guards are not good enough to sit Wilson, iverson, and king at the 3 spot. Start 2 guards, bring the other two off the bench, and rotate those guys at the 3. None of those guards are as good as Napier. There is no reason to sit the SF' s to play them together. They are much better as depth .

Good God Almighty. It was a 6 pm start on a WORK DAY. Many of these people came straight from work to the game.
So someone who can purchase a $5000 ticket can't leave work 1 hour early for a big game. Excuse. The upper area and student areas were not the issue, it was the expensive seats.
Do you honestly think a few empty seats had anything to do with winning or losing this game? Arena was full the 2nd half and we got it handed to us. UCONN was the better team, simple as that. If you're still leaving Daniels wide open late in the second half in the game of his life, you are going to lose, regardless the amount of crowd noise.
At the start of the game, it wasn't a "few". The bottom level was 40% empty in the tv picture. I watched the game on TV and the crowd was a non factor. Same as the CIN game. Are you saying the crowd doesn't feed the emotion of the players and give them extra incentive? If so you are wrong. The couple of minutes the crowd got into the game near the end and things got loud, UCONN lost some composure and we made a serious run. If a layup had gone in instead of hitting the bottom of the rim and if that was not followed up by another turnover, it could have been a different finish.
Why were YOU not at the game? Is it easier to complain about others not making it to the game from your couch?

Not saying that wealthy people can take off at will, but folks at the Burger Shack get fired if they miss a day staying home with a sick kid.

You are wildly overstating the impact of the crowd on this game. Crowd was into in the 2nd half and they beat us despite the crowd. There are 50 or more things to discuss that had a larger impact on the outcome.

I have one question. Where were all you negative guys when we beat Louisville on the road last week? Or when we beat OSU in Orlando? There are probably 10-15 user names in this thread who didn't make a single post in the Louisville thread after we won, if at all.
And if you can't recognize the type of game UConn played tonight, then you don't know what you're talking about. The last 5 minutes plus, they were 7-7 from the field, with us all over them, and 6-6 from the line.
Some of you guys need to find another team to root for, or wait a day before posting.

Good lord man, I've been saying this since the season started. Imagine starting Joe, Geron, King, Nichols and Shaq. And then subbing Dixon and Crawford for Joe and Geron and doing that freely and running. That would mean having 2 good guards on the floor with fresh legs at all times. Not to mention, every time we play a high level opponent with size, we are gonna get man handled with our lack of size. I am sick of this small ball BS.

Figured we'd lose once to Louisville (hasn't happened) once to UConn and once to Cincinnati. Didn't figure it would come at home but oh well. Not the end of the world. UConn should be ranked but slipped up against two teams.
